  • Cherry jam, vanilla, plum, and blackberry on the nose. Bold, fruity palate with a hint of tobacco. High alcohol, but smooth and well balanced.

  • Very dark matter. Sweetness in the nose and on the palate. Tobacco and prunes. Deep fruit, sweetness Amarone style on the palate. That said, very well balanced by pleasant tannins and acidity. Definitely very well balanced given the rich style. I have not found so much of a wood flavor in this bottle after decanting. I found the wine pretty well integrated.

  • The wine presents itself as medium dark (not opaque). On the nose I get cherry fruit and a grapey jam aromatic. Not much depth aromatically IMHO. In mouth the wine is fruity with softness imparted by the wood barrel aging. The wood flavor continues into the mid palette with fruit where flavors of licorice and spice become predominant. The wine is alive and changing. Jammy wine and just ok.

  • Great, fruitful and powerful Primitivo di Manduria

  • Still big juicy and peppery, but not as brash as its US-old-school Zin cousin. Dark fruit profile, with solid finish, but nowhere near the 99 pt. Badge on the label. Literally twice as much glas as a normal bottle so no geen-points here.

  • (français en bas)

This Primitivo is deep, opaque, almost black in the glass.

On the nose, red fruits such as cherries, blackberries, plums and strawberries.

On the palate, very promising from the first moment, typically Primitivo fleshy with smooth but well-pronounced tannins. However, there is a surprising if not disappointing lack of body length, and consequently too little complexity and finesse for it to leave any lasting impression. The dry tannins lingers on, but the wine does not quite deliver as a whole.

That being said, this is a wine which should please just about everyone around a meal, and above all a good introduction to this grape variety from the heel of Italy. Opening the bottle at least an hour in advance is recommended. Drink now or keep a few more years.

    ------------

  • Sourced from 60-year-old vines, this opaque ruby wine offers a jammy package of dark plums, Morello cherries, prunes, tobacco and licorice. Full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity, softly oaked and with well-integrated alcohol (14.5%), it wraps its flavors with medium-weight, silky-textured tannins. Solid in the middle, it concludes with a medium-length, slightly sweet finish. Although enjoyable, this Primitivo pushes the envelope of ripeness. Serially tasted over three hours from a bottle that had been Vinturi-decanted, it showed best after the first hour in carafe. Enclosed with a Diam 10 cork. Drink now-2028.

  • Deep dark garnet. Floral nose with hints of asphalt. Big bold opening and long finish. Oak, vanilla, plum and black fruit. Low+ acidity. Fairly dry. Jammy but balanced out.

  • The color is red garnet with some clarity in the borders, not brownish at all despite being ~5 years.

There is a distinctive wood aroma, red fruits, strong earthy smell.

Delicious! so easy to drink, very well balanced without having a strong body, some sweetness at the start, followed by some tannins and wood. Acidity is on point.

This wine is perfect to drink with friends over a bbq

  • Had this at Osteria al Doge in NYC and it did not disappoint. Full bodied and well balanced. In a cab-style bottle with broad shoulders it announces the attitude it will present. Delicious 😋
