Opened and poured. Medium body, some very slight barny notes blew off quickly....rose petals on the nose. Nice acidity, cherry and hints of plums and strawberry. Still drinking well on day two plus....the best bottle of this so far.

Nicely evolved nose of dried red and black fruit and earth. This was very thin and angular on the palate and with a shallow tannic finish. Faded after about an hour.

Popped and poured. Mature ripe fruit aromas, mostly dense blackberry with lots of spice, still showing some oak hints. Blackberry and blueberry flavors, nicely balanced between good fruit and some interesting earthy evolution. good acidity and balance helps provide nuance and finesse on finish. Should continue to drink well for another couple of years. Purchased from Archery Summit directly on release.

PnP, smoky ruby in the glass. This mature pinot reveals light toasted oak, earthy loam, a hint of funk, blueberry and black cherry on the nose. Nice arrangement on the palate, with lively cherry cordial accented with some acidic tartness that compliments well without being too angular. The cherry note really provides the focus that makes this interesting at this stage. Much better than the last bottle we had.

Tart cherries, some earthiness, spice, and the trademark Dundee Hills mushroom flavor. I expected this wine to be past its prime, and was pleasantly surprised. It may be beginning to fade a bit, so if you have any bottles left, I suggest drinking them soon.

Oregon Pinots Ten Year retrospective 96-00) (Lou's): I liked this far more than the group. My WOTN and the groups second last. Purple/ruby in color. The nose is very nice with spice and cherries. On the palate, it is complex and mature. Cherries, cherry pie filling, forest floor and some dough. Delicious. Nice finish. No hurry, but won't improve.

Exceeded my expectations. Tastes WAY more like a French Burgundy than an Oregon Pinot. Light bodied, nice cherry/mineral taste with a nice background of spice. Aroma of cherry cola. Not overly complex which hurts it, but elegant and very enjoyable. Is it worth it's price? - no way, but we enjoyed it with our 99 pt fresh wild King Salmon dinner.

a laid back night on the rooftop: nose: this was unmistakeably oregonian pinot on the nose with well balanced tones of plums, dark red cherries, spice tones and hints of char smoke. Good depth and very expressive with a real nice touch of robust elegance to it
taste: while there is a bit of a robustness to it on the nose, it gives way to a more lovely feel that still retains the elegance with pretty tones of purple florals, plums, dark red cherries and hints of various spice tones
overall: a real pretty and mature wine. While some 99 oregon pinots that I've had could be somewhat confused with burgundy, what I like about this is that it certainly is from oregon, but has a real class and elegance to it that makes it very attractive

Can't compare to the 99 Red Hills Estate which we had last week. I thought, I would try this , because the Red Hills was so good. This one has consistently dissapointed me. Weak fruit, tart cherry flavor, as Ellen says acerbic.

Interesting and subdued, perhaps past prime? Aromatics better than tastes. Nose of strawberry, licorice, cinnamon, toasty oak, a bit hot at 13.7%. Muted flavors yet lithe, harmonious, cherry, blueberry. 87/100.

Was very ambitiously priced back in the day, but it is a nice aging Pinot with some great secondary characteristics. It would be nice to have some dozens of bottles lying around in the cellar that taste like this.

Best on the nose and early on the palate. While there is plenty of fruit that persists on the moderate-long close the tannins are too dry and it turns slightly sour. On the nose: Dark cherries, cassis (in a Pinot!), and spice with a slight musty quality. All that's lacking are interesting 'ground notes.' On the palate the fruit more resembles blueberry and blackberry with absolutely terrifc purity and sweetness. There are also nicely tangy rasberry notes.
In conclusion, this is somehow less than the sum of its parts, but the sweet, distinct fruit flavors are remarkable.
An extremely difficult wine to score! May improve with a couple more years in the bottle, but it would be a shame to miss the fruit.

I held this wine since release in 2000. Professional view was drink immediately or hold for 5 years. I was disappointed in this bottle. I tasted a bottle in 2000 at a restaurant that rocked my world and forced me to track down some bottles. It stopped conversation at the table! That bottle had great fruit, depth of flavors and a big finish. This bottle was definitely subduded. It may have been too cold but it still did not show much nose or palatte even 45 minutes into a great dinner of broiled salmon, snap beans and oven fried potato wedges. I have three bottles left. Maybe this one was defective, although nothing tasted "off". It just didn't give up anything. Very ordinary, and especially at the cost 6 years ago of $75/bottle. I sure hope the other 3 bottles I have are more expressive.

Wow... I think this bottle actually helped me get laid! Great Pinot! Drank it after seeing the movie, Sideways. Silky, seductive, but gripping (the wine, not the movie). Lots of red fruit with a round mouth feel and just enough tannin. Nice finish (both the movie and the wine... and the date!).

Tasted Blind: Mature. I thought it was Oregon. Killer Perfume is all I kept thinking, saying, and hearing (like a hot blonde would wear on 5th Ave.in NYC). Silk, soft, great integration.

The nose here is very perfumed with pine and piercing cherry, very alluring. However, the palate is very flat and astringent, almost stripped. The cork appeared to be in very good shape with no signs of leakage or being cooked. However, I wonder if this was perhaps subtly corked, as it really showed remarkably little fruit and depth. Not rated.

Frangrant nose of spring flowers, ripe cherries and pine needles / forest floor. Complex and sensual. the palate was lush, silky but with great structure, complexity and underlying backbone. Waves of rasberries, pommegranite, violets - this had incredible length and finished with firm, ripe tannins. Totally different in structure than the other pinots tasted. Needs a few more years to settle down and open up. Fantastic.
