Community Tasting Notes (7) Avg Score: 84 points

  • Alcohol and ripe fruit on the nose. Licorice and fruity finish. The alcohol has this slight out of balance. Short and slight green pepper finish

  • All about wines portfolio tasting (Oinoscent): Full on ripe red and black fruit, floral notes, some blue fruit notes in the back
Palate is juicy, red and black fruit again, mild tannins, 13.50% alcohol warmth, mineral, light to med body, med finish, the oak is rather upfront here

  • My search for low priced but good wines continues. This wine was low priced, but not very good. Not flawed and not off putting…. just nothing special. I won’t buy more bottles, but if a neighbor served me a glass I’d say “thank you” and I’d drink it.

  • Dark ruby. Deep. Oak. Vanilla. Chocolate. Blueberry. Medium body. High acidity. Firm tannins after decanting for one hour. Long, dry finish. Good Rioja if found at discount.

  • By the glass. Surely it is the most representative wine of this winery and is based on a constant mixture; on one hand it is made with the traditional blend of Rioja although from young vines, less than twenty years, where the Tempranillo is overwhelmingly majority; from another the grapes come from both the Rioja Alta and the Alavesa; finally it ages 14 months in barrels with French oak bottoms and American oak staves plus a refined in bottle of another nine months. Continuous comebacks do not help to confer an unmistakable identity. Gee, gee ...
Aromas of berries, strawberry, raspberry, cherries, licorice, dark chocolate, hints of vanilla and other spices such as cinnamon. Typical impersonal Riojan sample. On the palate it is a dry wine, of little freshness but balanced and tannic at the same time. Too much wood at the aftertaste. Right now just a wine to match food with an alcoholic strength of 13.5%.
