A deep ruby red in colour. Lots of ripe fruit on the nose. Medium bodied and tannins. Tastes like garnacha - typical Spanish red but with a smokier finish. Good for the price but probably stay with the garnacha.

Dark, clear ruby color with a nice clean bouquet. Palate was cedar, black fruit and as it opened up cherries and raspberries. Medium-short finish. Drink now.

Raw meat and licorice on the nose. Earthy and meaty on the palate, a bit of vegetal dryness and green flavors, a bit of heat too, good extraction, keeps a juicy freshness and lightness despite the high alchohol. Good quality for the price. - 87 points

Great QPR. Dark ruby.purple red. Slightly herbal at nose, then licuorice, tar, blackcurrant. Medium+ bodied, smooth tannins. Long finish of blackcurrant and licorice.

This 2006 Monastrell from Bodegas Castano is a great example of the wines from South East Spain. This is a very dark, inky red to black with ruby hues. Highly extracted and viscous, you can tell this is from a hot/dry climate. Red and black fruit, plum, licorice, cigar box and leather on the nose. Black fruits; plums, black berry, huckleberry, licorice, chocolate on the mouth. With the medium-high acidity, this Monastrell will pair nicely with foods: roasted meats, game, stews etc. You may recognize the adopted French name for this Spanish grape: Mourvedre from Rhone Valley fame or GSM in Australia.

Colour: very dark purple. Nose: tight, very fruity (dark red fruits), alcohol, oakwood chips, raspberry. Taste: very dry, medium-full bodied and lengthy dry finish. Equal mix of fruit and wood: cranberry, raspberry, pine, cedar, oak, tobacco, mint, tea leaf, strawberry leaf. Herbal undertone, along with earthy sandalwood. Super dry with BIG tannin, but an austere wine. Needs to be room temp. Would like to see fruit come out more.

Very deep purple colour. Not much nose, bit earthy. Very very dry. Full body. Lots of tannin (dominates). Very fruity: sour plum, cranberry, raspberry, and strawberry. Woody, pine, and sandalwood. Smokey like incense. Herbal undertone. Too overwhelmingly dry and tart on its own, but would probably compliment well with food.

Part of Iberia Catering, flight Miami to Madrid. It is dense so can bear a long distance flight perfectly well. Plums on nose, tar on palate. To repeat it but on ground.
Es denso por lo que puede soportar un vuelo de larga distancia perfectamente bien. Ciruelas en nariz, alquitrán en el paladar. Para repetir pero en tierra.

More feminine than the bulk of Spanish wine I have had. Similar taste profile with notes of leather, cigar box and spice. Excellent with portabello burgers. Great QPR. Get a case.

Love it, amazing QPR - Dark, full bodied with a nose of sour cherry, plum, spice and vanilla, well structured/balanced with decent tannins, smooth on the finish with very good length, well done! (90 Points).

Solid, if a little lacking in dimension. Dark fruit and just enough backbone. A barbeque wine that has some old world character.

A very nice everyday wine with enough acidity for food but low on tannins and fruit to make this an excellent wine. 85, 86 might be more fair.
