Bordeaux 2022 barrel tasting event (Papiersaal Sihlcity, Zürich): Main takeaways: 1/ Despite a considerable amount of hype, this came across as bi-polar vintage with for every insanely good wine at least one dead-on-arrival counterpart. 2/ High alcohol levels, over-extraction and cooked fruit appear to be common pitfalls. 3/ Top wines were 1. Figeac (98), 2. Brane Cantenac (97), 3. Les Carmes Haut Brion (96). Full list of 20 wines and scores in included in the tasting story.
Tasting note: Ripe fruit profile with red and dark cherry, sweet spice and a touch of vanilla. Bold and structured palate, the balance is there and the palates matches the intensity from the nose.

Deep in color, the wine is equally dark in fruit. The palate is loaded with perfectly ripe, sweet, lush, blackberries, currants, herbs and spice. The finish, with its sweet and chewy crème de cassis character keeps on going. This should age for at least 2 decades with ease. Drink from 2025-2050. 92-94 Pts.

90 vvPunkte / Dunkel Frucht, Rauch, Kohle, Kräuter, dunkle Schokolade.

Medium+ nose intensity with notes of black fruits, black currant, flora. Youthful. Medium+ acidity and medium+ finish. High tannin. EP tasting.

En Primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage Day Two (Bordeaux): Ooh, slightly funky, gamey, black over red fruits, sweet spice, it's quite hard and chewy on the palate; feels a bit clumsy and disjointed. Hmm to Meh
