found one bottle of 06' in the mix with a bunch of 08' and 09', only from 06' left at the store'. Give it atleast 45 to breath before you drink or better yet decant, drinking nicely , bright acidity the tannins have mellowed on the finish and a medium length red berry spice midpalate, still plenty of fruit here , the nose is leather and crisp red berrries with hints of funky blue fruit and forest floor...89+

Fantastic wine - still drinking well - though as I noted below, I don't think they'll last past 2011. It seems like the tannins have given way to fruit (mixed berry yoghurt). The licorice is still there in a big way. I actually feel like I am eating tomato sauce on some level when I drink this wine. Great.

Wine is still drinking reasonably well, a bit more restrained than last time but there is spice, licorice, tobacco, dirt, and a nice dark chocolate finish. Had this with pizza and it rocked big time. I will drink my remaining 10 in the next year. These might not last beyond 2011.

Decanted for an hour. Oak, some rind like smell (think cantaloupe rinds), dark fruit berried pretty deep but there. Tons of tannins, not sure if it will be more mellow if it can be cellared for 5 years. Not really fond of it by itself since the tannins really come on strong but with Italian "red sauces" it is perfect. The tannins just smooth right out. For the price a good Sunday pasta-gravy wine.

Geeting licorice, oak and a hint of cedar on the nose. Palate shows a vibrant fruit profile with a licorice finish. Not a bad everyday wine, solid tannins and some heat on the finish

As I recall, 2005 was fuller and richer. This vintage however; Dark and deep purple colour. Dark fruit, blackberry and dark current nose. The palate is where is falls short; under-ripe and grainy tannins wich give it a certain unwelcomed astringency. Lacks a certain depth of fruit which for this region is something of a shame. Short finish.

Definite notes of honey on the nose -- which was very pleasant. However he body of the wine was not distinct -- just sharp tartness. Very little if any fruit -- and a finish that seemed to pull every bit of moisture out of your mouth -- in other words VERY dry.

Dark purple in the glass. Fruitfull taste with dark berries and a hint of oak. Almost no tannins, soft and velvety. Develops nicely in the glass. Easy to drink, however, lacking a lot of personality and temperament. Serves well with pasta dishes.

WIML88? No tasting note. Purchased by the glass from a wine bar. There seems to be some bottle variation. I thought this bottle was fairly simple and straightforward. Would make a decent pasta and pizza wine.

Nice surprise! Bouquet is fondue. It really does smell just like fondue, with some wine-oakiness added. The flavor is really pleasant. Chocolaty, some oak, some dark fruit, decently long-lasting. Great balance between new world and old world, leaning ever-so-slightly to the new world. I really like it. Hard to score, because this to me is as close to a 90 as you can get without being a 90.
Had the rest after letting it breathe a little more, and you can disregard the last statement. It's a really good wine and is well-deserving of a 90.

Excellent restrained style with a cool dustyness - perfect for everyday drinking without being simple. Very Old World.

Very dark, inky purple. Lots of oak on the nose along with evident black licorice. Jammy texture, minimal coco towards the end but big chalky tannins.

very bitter tannins and not much complexity of fruit, but went well with spaghetti and meatballs. The food really softened the tannins.

Interesting blend of Southern Italian grapes, with a predominant tone of Primitivo, which is remeniscent of Syrah from the Southern Rhone.

Oak, cherries, sour cream and lilac on the nose. Good structure, and long finish, but the fruit is overwhelmed by oak.
