Deep ruby color. Medium intensity aromas of musky leather, ripe cherries, and fresh cut grass. Dry but somehow feels lightly sweet, medium acid, medium tannins, full body, and long finish. Medium intensity flavors of jammy ripe cherries, plum, and dark chocolate. This one is nice and rich, a little sweet tasting but very tasty.

For a Cabernet Sauvignon around $20 this is a good wine. But you have to decant at least three hours before drinking. Took it to a blind tasting and everyone liked it. After decanting the body was full, slightly tannic and almost everyone went with a California Bordeaux blend. I’ll be picking more of this up.

Alas my search for a solid Paso Robles cab continues. Drank over two nights and not much changed from night to night. A lot of sweet fruit, too much for me. I could see how others would enjoy this.

This deep-to-opaque crimson wine is a blend of 77.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15.6% Petit Verdot, 6.5% Merlot and 0.4% Cabernet Franc, aged for eight months in French oak (50% new). Serially tasted over a three-hour period from a bottle that had been popped and poured, it fully opens after the first hour to reveal aromas and flavors of chocolate-covered cherries, mulberries, Asian spices and pipe tobacco. Medium-to-full-bodied, low-to-medium in acidity, seamlessly alcoholic (14.5%) and with fairly well-integrated oak at such an early stage, it wraps its flavors with plentiful sweet tannins, stays solid in the middle and finishes with medium length. This is a very credible "workhorse" Cab from a winery that offers several other bottlings that sell at a significant premium. Drink now-2032.

First time I ever tasted Daou Cab Sav from Paso Robles.. I was disappointed.
I approached it open-minded - having heard of Daou before but not knowing much about its production, reputation or price.
I looks like deep purple in the glass. The aromas were pretty strong ...almost perfumed (unnaturally strong?) But it still smelled good.
I wasn't performing a tasting per se, so I just jumped in to have a sip in a social setting. The first thing I thought of was "sweet". The wine tasted so sweet to me. Almost all the cabs I drink are from napa and I am not deeply familiar with paso robles wines, but this was not a traditional cab taste in my opinion.
I drank the glass, and it tasted like ok red wine but was too sweet for me. One glass and done. I was left like it was wine served at a wedding or a bottle from the grocery store.
I had been talking with a friend who asked me what I thought it cost based on taste and I said $30 -- pretty close after we googled the cost.
This is not a wine I would choose again. Its ok, and perhaps even a step up for those early in their wine journey moving on from Apothic Red.
This just isn't a good expression of cab sav. at 77% cab sav and blend of others, I think it misses the mark.

$7 off so let's give it a whirl; this is what you'd be served at a wedding. Paso cab (not North Coast cab taste), blended fruit flavors, Costco has reds like this all day at $10.

Too extracted and sweet, without enough structure. There are better options in this price range. I had heard a lot of positives about this wine, but was not impressed.

This suffered from the too-rich mousy taint that cheap cabs can have from, I assume, underwhelming effort in the production process. The result is that the first sip tastes easy-drinking, inoffensive and inviting, but after the first glass I just couldn’t return to it.

What an utter disappointment this cabernet was. Enjoying previous vintages, I was looking forward to the newest release after "WE" gave this a top rating. Let me tell you something Wine Enthusiast, who is paying you? This was absolutely awful. It was not flawed just a bitter non-descript excuse for a cabernet. Tasted like burnt leaves with a side of acid. UGH! Major downturn for this normally reliable producer.

PnP. Dark ruby in colour with aromas sweet black fruit & a hint of oak. On the palate, full bodied black fruit, cassis, blackberry, liquorice, vanilla, medium acidity, medium soft tannins with a long finish to cassis & spice/herbs. The wine is not complex, but flavour is very pleasant!

It doesn’t taste like a Napa Valley Cab, so it must be crap, right?

Dark fruit and minerals, acidic with low tannins. Too young but ok for a low end California cab

Comes across quite extracted and sweet. Purple fruit. Doesn't seem as good as previous vintages but didn't do a side by side.

Good for price point. Lots of red and some blue / black fruit, fairly straightforward with a touch of vanilla / leather

Leather, oak, plum, red fruit, very hot so had to let it breathe. Very slow tears.
Decent but not my favorite.
