Normally I would sit on this one for a year or two and drink it up. This one has been in the cellar for almost four years, and it is really nice. The nose on it is beautiful. The mouthfeel is terrific, and the finish is decent. Drink them if you have them, it won't get any better than this.

Wow! Sat for 30 minutes and started gulping! The nose! The nose! Pepper, currants, berries. Mouth feel was excellant. It's been 30 minutes and I can still taste the finish. Loved it. Had it with barbecued pizza. red sauce, egg plant, cheese and basil. Great wine.

Notes consistent with earlier bottles, though fruit is not as big to me this time. More balanced. Black cherry, currant, pepper, spice box. Was worth giving this the extra time. Drink now.

Decanted 15 min. and started drinking. Deep ruby color, with eart-tones. Floral notes on opening but evolved as it opened. Raspberries and dark fruit, with earthy hints, with a very long finish. Held up well to spicy pasta, which brought out the earthy flavors. As finished after dinner, I lost interest. Nothing bad; nothing great. I'll drink my remaining bottles next time we serve spicy pasta.

Fruit was a bit inconsistent and the profile a bit missing in the mid palate, but it was a classical zin with spiciness. Maybe a bit high at 19$ but a reasonable value. Not sure it would my first choice at that price point, but lacking others to compare to, it was a good wine.

First night: Could be sold as blackberry wine. Very impressive pure berry flavors with a dry finish. Only complaint would be the lack of body. Second night: Blackberry fruit faded, replaced by a warmer, fuller wine. Equally rewarding, but different. Overall: The 2006 Richard Sauret captures the classic Rosenblum single-vineyard characteristics - immediate appeal, pure fruit, evolution in the glass - memorable, individual flavors.

4th of July Weekend Zin Fest (The Wine Country, Signal Hill, CA): Had again at a tasting. This is very smooth with pure fruit but lacks many things that really good zins have -- bramble, spice, pepper, acidity. It's really just a summer BBQ quaffer and, at $19, a bad value for this kind of wine.

Dark garnet red. Heavy, heady and nearly cloying nose featuring exotic apricot followed by a fatiguingly oak palate. Actually feels heavier than the stated 14.7%. Maybe a zin for chocolate but not much else is compatible.

VERY nice Zin. We drank this with Filet Mignon at a dinner dance and everyone at the table thought it was an excellent wine. Not as fruit forward as some other zins but very good color, albeit, not as dark and inky as some. Substantial oak and notes of dark fruit and honey on the palate with very soft tannins and little acidity. Somewhat soft and short finish. In all a good 'drinking' zin and paired well with dinner.

Deep ruby robe with red rim. Clean nose, showing moderately intense aromas of blackberries, black cherries and black pepper. Medium-bodied on the palate, with low acidity, medium sweet tannins and ripe black fruit flavors. The texture and middle palate are thin and the finish is short. Overcropping? Drink now-12/11.

Tasted 8-9-09. Dense purple plum color. 14% Petite Sirah. Nose dominated by ultraripe plummy fruit [toward prunes], & tobacco. Palate delivers dense dark briary fruit bordering on overripe, ample black pepper, & a trace of heat-- 14.7% ABV. Interesting profile, but overall subdued, & not too versatile. Not as much complexity as I expected & hoped for; & am a Rosenblum fan. Decent bottle but not stellar. 86 pts.

Very nice and drinkable wine. We were given this in place of a French Pinot that was very bad. We all were surprised at how full and fruity this was with nice vanilla and oak on the nose. We were at a dinner dance so the remainder of the notes I forget but I would definitely purchase this wine and my 'wine buddy' at the table agreed. Worth a try but not sure it is a 21.00 wine, maybe more like a 15-18.00.

A medium-dark purple in the glass, the nose on this zinfandel features blackberries, dark cherry, ginger, pepper, and about 70% chocolate. There is also a hint of raisins and/or prunes, amidst these other elements on the palate, along with tobacco. This is not, however, overly extracted or ripe, and it is fairly structured and lean. Not flabby or rich, by any means. I must say that this pales in comparison to the WS #10 wine, the 2007 Sonoma County zinfandel from Seghesio Vineyards, which is both much beefier, structured, spicy, and lengthy in the finish. Day 2: now this is a deep purple, with a soft, jammy, over-ripened palate.

not as enjoyable to me as the '05 was, which i was a huge fan of. color is more toward violet and the nose and palate are more dark (less red) than the '05. drank over 3 days and although it opened up more and more, i'm left feeling as if this wine still was unwilling to "give up the goods". just a smidge of heat. typical zin spice notes, but once again the wine just seems reluctant to offer up its charms. if i purchase any more, i will most definitely sit on it for a year minimum.

Well made Zin. Opens up after a day. On the nose: plum, strawberry, dark chocolate and Thai pepper. On the palate: a lot of alcohol right away with a slightly fruity and dry finish. Very dry. Not as much going on in the palate as you would expect from a Rosenblum Zin. For better or worse, no oak at all. Still though a well made wine.

More subdued than usual for Rosenblum. Lacks the dark underbelly of the '05 Planchon Vineyard. Some exotic red fruit flits through the palate but was elusive in this bottle. Tannins suggest this could improve for a couple years. 87 right now, potential for 89 when mature, so I'll give it 88.
