Monthly Tasting Group HWS; Cornas (By JdB): This 2006 was significantly better than the 2007 we had beside it. The bouquet showed beautiful red berries, minerals and a pleasant stage of some development. On the palate red berries and cherries, blackberries, herbs and spices, some stable impressions, very juicy acidity, good tannin and a great length. Not a bit too old yet. Beautiful wine. 91 - 92

Ruby but fading a bit. Great bramble fruit, huge vein of iodine and seaweed. Fine acidity. A bit of wildness., almost garrigue. Good length. Think this is now in into it's stride. Very enjoyable.

This wine (or at least this bottle) has blossomed into a truly gorgeous Cornas. Smoke, soy, and red fruits in both the mouth and nose, depth, but lightness of texture (indeed almost Burgundian) with great length. There are still some tannins for those lucky to have more. Lot L.1. Cellared since original release.

Modern style in its best form -- blueberries and lavender, a little smoke and licorice, smooth tannins, medium-weight, good freshness, still with plenty of future.

Dufter krekling og oliven med hint av blod/ jern. Tett mørk vin med god munnfølelse. Tanninene begynner å bli polerte. I starten av drikkevindu, men denne holder lenge enda.

so tight on day 1 that we put it away for day 2. the tart cherry fruit is less dense now and taking a back seat to the cedar and iron/iodine/mineral/olive. we put the rest in the gravy. More interesting than enjoyable.

brooding dark blue and black berry, plenty of stems, garrigue, game and a peppery finish; tight and young; more open on day 2 with intriguing unctuous long herbal/peppery finish;

Paired with a Cassoulet (i.e. loads of duck and pork fat to match the tannins). Still young, but already open. Great syrah nose of dark berries, bacon and pepper, but also a note of fresh red currant. Initial red berry sweetness on the palate followed by a structured midle with pepper and a gamey note. Long finish with almost sparklingly fresh acidity. Still present tannins, but already loveøy with hearthy food. Will only better in the next year (slight caveat due to the low level of sulfur). Consumed from magnum.

This feels to me like a fall weekend – rhubarb pie (straight from the oven, church pews (all you recovering Catholics know what I mean), cedar, musk and a nice assortment of cranberry, raspberry and blackberry fruits. The nice piece is that the fruit is lean, not syrupy, which gives a lighter mouthfeel than I would have expected given both the aroma and the overall flavor profile. Grippy tannins, so, if you’re not a fan, then this one is not for you, but it’s clearly tannins from the fruit and not the oak, which is right up my alley. This wine is from the southern tip of Northern Rhone, which is definitely going to send me out exploring that region in the hopes of finding similar wines.

Drank with several friends, so I didn't pay attention to this as much as I would have liked. Great chemistry class and intense pepper on the nose. Much lighter drink than I would expect given the intensely dark color and incredible nose. This is very much what I'm hoping to find in a bottle of french syrah, great wine.

Dark in color, almost opaque. This had a floral and mineral nose. The body seems a bit thinner than the last time I had this wine. Perhaps it was being over shadowed by the New World wines in the lineup. The tannins seemed a bit rough, but not excessively so. The fruit was a bramble of herbs, dark berries, a kiss of smoke, and a bit of the mineral. The wine is clearly of high quality. The finish was taut but lingering.

Honestly, this was a bit disappointing. Bought it looking for a complex earthy, mineral type wine as in "granite 60". Ended up getting something quite different. Lots of dark fruit and tar on the nose. The palate however was really quite....well grapey. Was full bodied but more in a overly sweet/syrupy way. Fairly long finish. Maybe some like this but it's just not my cup of tea. One question lingers.....If this was "granite 60", then where the hell was the granite?

Very Cornas, iodine, blood and iron. Sound fruit, good acidity and balance. In the drinking zone. Granit 60 tasting chez Lillelund.

Fading. Some complexity, good harmony, tar, leather, bacon. Classic enough. On day 2 still a bit akward - not a big fan.

From memory:
Much like the previous bottle. Had held up very well and still a great Cornas. Can be held a couple of years more.

Oxidised, but underneath a refined Cornas showing nearly fully resolved tannins. Hoping for better out of the next bottle.

Moden nå. Flott duft av einebær og krekling. Deilig munnfølelse, fremdeles god moden frukt. Fine tanniner. Drikk nå og noen år fremover
