Started very tight, with a barnyard bouquet. But after only 45 minutes of decanting, the bouquet changed completely, revealing delicious fruit. Smooth, with a touch of garrigue, and consistent with other Cote Rotie at this price point.

A bunch of wines at dinner with Friends (Taste): Purple in color. The nose has black olives but it a bit tight. Some roasted meats but not much fruit on the nose. Better on the palate with some black raspberries. Also some old wood notes. Tannins seem resolved. A nice silky texture. Nice acidity. This needs some food. In retrospect, this should have been served on its own or certainly not with some bigger Napa Cabs. Oh well. I wonder where it goes from here though. Its a very good wine and I would probably drink sooner than later.

Medium ruby. Cherry, slightly savoury, leathery. High tannin, high acidity. Very fruity. I thought it's much younger than 2005. Didn't get that my meatiness on this one. Surprise!
Blind tasting.

Splendid! Powerful yet round. Still some tannins but not at all out of control, could still go for a while. Hints of olives, leather but still bright. Deep purple color.

It was mealy and thick and tannic and perhaps a bit off (though it smelled wonderful). It was dry and dark and heavy. It was not what I expected of this house or this vintage. My local merchant mistakenly didn't charge me for this bottle...and despite my genuine efforts to suggest I'd underpaid for my mixed case, she pushed me out the door. I'm glad I didn't drop the $74 they asked for this. It wasn't worth 1/10th of that.

Chez MG: after the la Mordorée Lirac 12, it seemed to be lighter, less concentrated, tannins still perceivable, not spectacular, but well made.
