(100% Marsanne, 13.5% Alkohol) Gereiftes Gelb, weisse Ränder. Intensive Nase, Lavendelhonig, Salbeiblüten, reife Birne, Quitten, Sanddorn, sehr komplex. Trinken.

PNP, deep gold, toasty apricot, unctuous, long finish; outstanding & definitely in its mature form & ready to drink. This is the 1st time I have one this mature & although I very much liked it, I like the younger, fresher phase better

Wow! Golden color and holding up great- years of life ahead -with king crab legs a match made in heaven! Marsanne grape. Not sure if I love these or Jean Louis Chave’s more- spectacular and perfect now but likely a decade of peak time left. I got apricot and peach flavors on a luscious background- taste just goes forever after a sip.

My friend loved this, but white northern Rhone is not my thing. This is thick, intense, honeydripping and quite a mouthful. How to end a bottle of this? I could not even have a full glass of this. My score is personal and does not reflect an objective rating.

At the Mansion for parents anniversary Golden color with initially reticent nose. Rich palate with stone fruit and toasty nut flavors and long finish unfortunately marred by alcohol heat It built nice with air and enhanced our various starters.

Another great bottle after an hour slow-o & enjoyed at dinner with Mark & Barbara at City Fish. Significantly more opulent & delicious than the still wonderful 05 I had the other night

This wine is always a serious white with so many layers, tropical fruits, honey and honeycomb, weighted on the palate and an echoing finish. There was a sharp note on the wine as it warmed up.

Opened with no decant, but gave it some air for about 90 minutes before diving in. Cork was perfect and was almost in better shape than a lot of younger wines. Color is a beautiful and radiant gold. Has aged very nicely. Nose is a deep honey- almost caramel in nature, along with orange rind and layers of minerals and stone fruit. Palate is overwhelming with a beautiful honey and spiced pear combination with an oily mineral undertone. Low acidity- typical of the region and varietal. Got better over the three plus hours. Just a fantastic wine.

Fine upon opening, about what one might expect for the variety, place, and age. With air though, it took on notes of chlorine or ammonia, on the nose only. Still do not know what to think about that. Of several tasters, none thought it flawed. Will not score it.

Double decanted, deep gold, orange with caramel, long finish; Outstanding & possibly the finest white wine that I have ever tasted; ready to drink now, but I suspect it will last awhile longer

Northern Rhone visit April 30, 2014; 5/8/2014-5/15/2014: Tasting room visit- Rich gold color. Expressive aromas of honeysuckle, white florals, savory and sweet spice, and tropical fruit. Richly layered palate with notes of fresh cream, spice, tropical fruit, stone, honey and earth. Very silky and polished. Medium acid. Long complex finish. A beautiful wine.

Strong minerals coming through, several friends noted almost a sherry taste (perhaps slightly alcoholic), high acidity. Our first experience with a white from Hermitage, something to get used to for us. Will wait a few years to open the next bottle.

Tasting his 2006's with Michel Chapoutier, November 21, 2009: Brioche, toast, warm butter. This reminds me of 1996 Dom Perignon, which is kind of weird but I stick to that. Intense Minerality on the palate and long finish. Tasted together with Michel and he said that he beliefs it needs another 40 years of bottle aging. I disagree, it's beautiful now but might shut down in 1-2 years!

Fantastic full bodied white wine. Great mouth feel with complex notes of quince, citrus and honey. Long, extended finish that goes on forever. Great balance with just the right acidity. Will get even better with more time in the cellar.

very young white but with amazing concentration and complexity.
Initial complex nose of tropical fruit reminded us of a condrieu. But sweet oak comes on with some time and it smelt more like a white burg. Complexity (for such a young wine) is mirrored on the palate.
Very very good.

Quite similar to De L 'Oree, with somewhat shorter aftertaste (but very long by regular standards) and more expressive nose. The acidity is also slightly higher. That said, both wines are masterpieces, close to perfection. Chapoutier masterclass, Decanter Fine Wine Encounter, The Landmark, London.

Glossy warm golden colour. Lovely weight and complexity on the nose; quince and greengage fruits, intense minerality; almost a sense of an aged dry sherry. Incredible smoothness and balance on the palate, from the rich, spicy minerality to the bright acidity and subtle bitterness from the young Marsanne to the sweet honeyed apricot. Long and lingering.

Decanter's Chapoutier 2006 Masterclass, given by the man himshelf. Honey golden and well round. Mild mineral on the nose and milder on the marsanne bitterness. Still very young but it is minerality galore with lots of structure and an nice roundness to it.This is the one to look for but needs some more time maybe a couple of years ?
Point to note is that he confirmed the notion that most of the white hermitage (and his especially) seem to close down around year 7 and open again in yr 15 or so. Keep this in mind and good luck.
