  • Wonderful wine!!
It's amazing that this wine cost around 12 euros back in 2007.
Naoussa is surely one of the underrated wine regions of the world.
Not many wines at this price have the ageing potential, complexity and uniqueness of flavour of Xinomavro from Naoussa.
Very perfumed with medium body, firm but not aggressive tannins, lively acidity and full of flavour, this wine is a joy to drink!
Mature but can keep and age further.

  • Much better than the other 2 bottles tasted to date. Light to medium brick with typical tomato sauce, smoke, red cherries, undergrowth, olives and floral scents. Medium-bodied with silky tannins and balancing acidity. Fairly long finish. Fully mature bot not overevolved as the previous 2 bottles.

  • Dark garnet. Nose of olive paste, earth, garrigue, licorice. Smooth and nicely-textured on the tongue with tampenade and plum notes intermixed with licorice and earth. Finish was short and a bit "soapy". I could tell this was Xinomavro but the execution was a bit ragged.

  • Medium garnet-brick with some brownish hues by the rim. Surprisingly evolved with tertiary aromas of earth, mushrooms, red cherries and tomato sauce. Mid-bodied with soft tanins, ripe fruit and balancing acidity. Fairly long finish. Has reached its full maturity already. Good, but immediate consumption is suggested. My guess when I tasted this wine 15 months ago that it will not go much further was right.

  • Bright ruby. Initially shy nose that opens up very fast with aeration, to reveal vanilla and swet oak aromas initially, and later, currants, violets and hints of smoke. The signature tomato and green olive elements are there, but come as part of a more sweet and complex array of aromas. One of the best Naoussa noses I have ever encountered. Mid-full bodied, unusually sweet in the mid-palate, with quite soft tannins and good fruit. Relatively high alcohol for the appelation. Oak effect is still evident but not dominant. Relatively low acidity for xinomavro! Will fail to accompany the usual dishes that typically match perfectly with xinomavro. More than this, I have doubts for this wine's aging potential. Better drink sooner than later. That said, it is a very pleasent, opulent wine that does not lack in character.

  • Greek Wines; 5/1/2008-6/30/2008: Slight dusky hue to the colour. Funky nose with some rust and gear-grinding smells. Acids predominant with the raspy Xino texture and nectarine skin fruits at the end. A bit of tar and mineral. Lots of structural elements which rounded out in the glass. Picked up concentration as well. Definitely not for everyone, but I liked it.
