  • Auction bottle with unknown provenance. Good fill level, but cork was loose and completely stained and saturated, with dry wine residue on top under foil. Not decanted. Clear brick-ruby red color with minimal sediment. Initial bouquet of animal fur, barnyard, and saddle soap, but this blew off to reveal a pleasant, evolved bouquet of syrupy cranberries, black cherries, black raspberries, and pomegranates, melded with orange peel, mincemeat, potpourri, and stony red soil, with hints of caramel and chai tea appearing later. Similar on the palate, medium body, balanced, pleasantly tart, seamless, complex, mellow. This wine may have been compromised by improper storage and/or cork malfunction.
