Les Deux 2018 (Chez Gill): This bottle was drinking very well right now, with loads of nice secondary on the nose: loads of spice, cigar and black raspberry. On the palate, a little less interesting, and definitely showing heat, with some slightly rough tannin on the finish. Nevertheless pretty good.

Drinking extremely smooth, probably at its peak. A little tobacco and leather combo with that typical Napa cab character. Time to drink. Very enjoyable with a nice grilled steak.

An odd melding of greenery, vanilla oak and some bell pepper (would have pegged as a modernist cab franc blind). Not showing much age given it's tenure but surprised at the unripe notes. Not my first bottle of this wine, but it has been a good 5yrs since my last and don't recall experiencing this in the past...

Howell Mountain Spring Wine Tasting. Nose of dust, heat, dark fruit, and licorice, more of the same on the palate, needs time to eliminate the heat but the fruit is light for Howell Mountain, medium body, medium/long finish.

Originally thought the nose had some cherry, but after being decanted for a couple of hours we have dark fruit and earth. Complex layering of flavors. There is some black fruit, some red fruit, still a little cherry (less than an hour ago) earth, a little tobacco. Not lots of tannins, but big flavors and a very long finish. This wine has opened up and changed to an excellent wine. Wish we had more.

Loved this wine, full bodied but very integrated. Not as smooth as the DAdomo Vineyard, more bite to the finish. Decanted for an hour, should have waited longer, as the wine continued to evolve and mellow with time. Love Pina wines.

Dark garnet to purple color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of tobacco, Briar patch, minerals. black berries and plums. Flavors of black berries, black cherries and plums. Medium to bright acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now with some air or hold into the medium term.

The nose had lots of barnyard and black currant, spice and tar, and some vanilla at the end. The palate was rich, and had black currant and spice, tar anf smoke, and an oaky finish.

Loved this wine. The nose was somewhat restrained but the taste was not. There were dominating flavors of chocolate and blackberry. Maybe not the most complex wine, but a real pleasure to drink.

This is what people think of as a classic Napa cab. From 1800+ sea level. Bright currant and plum flavors and aromas, with some roast coffee as it opens. Beautiful garnet color. Acidity at core, very juicy, and cedary tannins. Well balanced.

has potential to be rated even higher, easily the wotn, everyone loved the flavor, smooth, can't wait to see how this evolves. I drink alot of napa cabernet and this has the potential to be one the best.

Mountain terroir, dirt, eucalyptus, very dark and deep black fruits such as blackberry and black currant. Lots of depth, hints of truffles and tomatoes. Freshness is the name of this. very tight and needs to unwind but this is real mountain wine! Its flaw is that it is a touch hot at this point.

The 2004 Piña Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, Buckeye Vineyard: heady aromas of violets, blackberries, cedar, black tea, tobacco, and smoke. You may still be able to taste the massive, succulent black fruits, the mouthful of plush, chewy tannins that go on and on and promise of an unimaginable greatness should you possess the iron will to let this beauty languish in your cellar.

Last bottle. What a fantastic wine and vintage. Soft, but still showing great fruit. Would recommend drinking now.

Still high alcohol. Smooth tannins and cherry on the mid palate. Lost some complexity. Short finish

Velvety soft with a ton of complexity. Dusty dark stone fruits with a kiss of candied cherry on the finish.
