Best of the three bottles of this vintage purchased at a charity auction. Raspberry, light spearmint, and a bit of funk on the nose. The flavors are bright raspberry jam, a tinge of mustiness, and cherry syrup. The remaining tannins are gentle and satiny.

Second of three bottles. First really showed its age. This bottle had some odors that had to blow off, but then, marvelous fruit, including raspberry and cherry, with enough structure to be quite enjoyable. Great way to start a long evening that will be a not so fond farewell to a very unusual year. These grapes were picked the year my wife and I met: Another successfull creation.)

Next to last bottle. I liked it best when younger. Became a little more funky after two hours. Cork in perfect shape. Still ruby red in color. Cigar box, grilled herbs and dark fruit prevailed both on the nose and in the palate. Had with cold filet mignon and cheese. Will try the last bottle in a 1990 retrospective with Cali Cabs and Bordeaux and see how it does blind.

Sampled 7/1/11. Cork and fill were very good. Wine turning brown/rust color. A bad sign. Upon first pulling cork some aged fruit on the nose. Upon first taste a wine that was over the hill but still had some fruit and sweet tannins. 15 minutes later the fruit had fallen away completely and was dead and gone.

Good bottle. Still alive and kicking. Color: Nice dark garnet, with no noticable bricking at all. Nose: lots of menthol with a little scorched earth. Taste: the menthol carries through with some fresh plum and cherries. There's still lots of tannins that really envelope the fruit in a positive way.

Very reminiscent of a Heitz Martha's. Tons of eucalyptus and mint/menthol on the nose with fully resolved tannins and and complex and complete finish. Excellent old school Napa producer.

Tasted in double-blind fashion at Vintage Wines, Ltd. Bottle provided by Ken Johnson. Bright disc. Deep garnet robe with brick-orange rim. Clean, explosive nose of chocolate, plum, cigar box and black cherry. Full-bodied on the palate, with medium ripe tannins, good acidity and similar flavors as for the nose, with the addition of vanilla bean. Long, smooth finish. This wine is drinking magnificently at this point. It has the structure to drink well for at least five more years.

Drank a few times with consistent results. Wine opened in 1+ hrs and lasted for 2+ hrs. Should consume in the next couple years.

Strong flavor at first but disapated. Elegant style. Probably a few years out of its prime.
