Sweet flowery nose, loads of red fruit and cardomom coat the pallet. Pepper and mild tannins on the finish. Wonderful to drink without food, but plenty of spice and acidity to hold up to a steak or barbeque.

The nose was prickly like TCA but without the wet cardboard. Instead I got cooked cabbage and maybe some nail polish as well, so it may have been VA. There was decent fruit and a nice dusty wild berry finish, but in total I think this was flawed.

We really liked this. Had a bottle of this about 18 months ago and it was not nearly as good then--I remember it being a bit hot and disjointed. But this bottle was outstanding. Rich fruit, lots of spice, and no heat noticeable. This was excellent full-throttle zinfandel, and I now wish I had more. Will have to get some of the 2008 and give them a year or so based on this experience. Four Vines is producing some excellent Zins with good QPR.

UNFAIR, UNFAIR - Just back from a month in France and Italy where the wines are not nearly as fruit forward as the California wines nor the level of Alcohol. So, take what I am about to say with a grain of salt and that information in mind. Beautiful transclucent purple in color with big bold legs expressive of the alcohol content. Dark fruits with nail polish notes, vanilla, oak, leather, cassis, tobacco, cedar box on the nose. Fruit forward on the palate, full bodied with smooth integrated tannins and spice. Very, very nice honey, fruit finish as if it was a bowl of fruit covered in honey. Alcohol definitely present and presented as numbness on the lips and inside the cheeks but not offensive. Wonderful Zin overall.
Day two: I have NEVER had a Zinfandel last for day two. Well I discovered that like many other wines, day two presented a VERY smooth, subtle, aromatic, balanced and structured wine that DID NOT have the jammy, over sweetness I was getting on day one. Now, understand, that this was drinking the wine that was from a glass left out over night by mistake. When I opened the bottle which had the cork in it, the wine was still not as developed, etc. as that in the glass. Hmmmm, lesson learned about this wine and maybe others of this quality and varietal.

Dark purple in color. Typical Zin nose of dark berries, bramble, cracked pepper with the addition of a mineral note (maybe graphite) also a slight wiff of mint. Great balance of acidity and tannins on the mid palate but a little more heat from the alcohol level. Great medium-long finish. Very similar to the '07 Seghesio but a slightly bigger wine with more heat from the alcohol level. I enjoyed this very much!

Nose of dark fruit and spice/pepper. Mouth is well built with great spice and a fair amount of fruit (a but more than the comparable Seghesio). All in all, a nice effort though I prefer the Seghesio.

We drank this wine while answering the door to reward the Trick-or-Treaters. We snacked on cheese and crackers and chips and salsa. The wine was perfect for the affair. It is a sturdy wine with strong spice notes...allspice and pepper and a little vanilla. I have another bottle...looking forward to it. I will note to pair it differently next time.

I have decided to put this in the same category with the Seghesio 07 Sonoma. The only differences are the minerality on the nose and finish but the rest is comparable. Smooth tannins and just enough spice to make it interesting. Dark purple color with dark berries on the nose and some oak and vanilla. The alcohol comes through slightly but not offensive. Notes of honey like Seghesio. Carries a tad more spice on the finish which as a 30 second linger. In all a GREAT wine at a GREAT price point.

Still a very consistent wine. Notes still apply. This one did, however, taste somewhat more fruity and less tannic and acidic than before, but I let it decant instead of just breathe in the bottle and I think that opened it up more. Definitely recommend decanting the others. This is consistent with decanting on 8/3.
Day two this wine shines and is truly a great zinfandel. Very nice notes of honey and cherries, tobacco and chocolate. Truly a sweet resonating taste with spicy lingering finish. Ummmmmm. I think the key to this wine is to let it decant for some time before drinking.

Impressive (for the price) full-bodied zin with a nose of spice potpourri and fruit. Black plum, black cherry and nutmeg notes standout, but no single flavor over powers another. The finish is not long, but it is smooth and has a kick of spice. Overall a nicely balanced wine and one I will seek out again.

For the price and reviews this wine got, I was not impressed. The color was amazing, almost electric ruby red. On the nose, currant, raspberry, red fruit, some minerality and some pepper. Perhaps I got a flawed bottle. My experience doesn't match the other reviews.

Second bottle and just as good as the first. We had Seghesio 07 just prior and it matched up well with the Seghesio except it seemed not as complex and had less fruit with more pepper and spice than Seghesio. Both great wines with very similar but different character.

Nice dark color. Strong oak on the nose, not much else. Also an oaky, tart mess on the palate. Virtually no berries or spice. I don't think food could even hide this bottle's weaknesses. Both disappointing and surprising, given the `06 F.V. "Sophisticate" was amazing.
The second half-bottle opened somewhat the next day. Certainly less tart, epecially when paired with food. Add three full points. [15.0% abv.; $24.00].
