  • Unfiltered, with a note on the back label (and branded cork) showing this was made for Broadbent by Quinta do Crasto. I opened this early Saturday morning so it would have a long decant before a BBQ at my house later in the evening. I took a small sip when I decanted it, then left it for dessert. That first sip showed a lot of heat, decent fruit, but medium weight but with some solid tannins. I've never had this particular LBV before, but the decision to open it early paid off, as by later in the evening that heat had blown off, it put on a lot more weight, and the tannins became fierce. Lots of blueberries and chocolate are dominating right now but seems to be a just a little shy in the acidity department. This really could use another 8-10 years to mature and show it's best, or give it a really long decant now. Overall I was impressed especially considering this wasn't a highly regarded year in the Douro. I think it's best years are to come.
    89(+) Points.
