Exquisite! No problem guessing this as a BdX blend (60% CS, 40% M). Licorice and red fruit dominate the nose but there's also a hint of leather/funk. Medium body with plenty of acidity and delicious cherry, berry, and plum fruit flavors.

Lots of time left. Still wound up a bit. Needs to be decanted. Truffle notes and somewhat loamy with liquorice and black currants. Score [50 + 5 + 12 + 16 + 9 ] = 92.

Beautifully soft Merlot and Cabernet red fruits brought together with time. Big acid backbone and Italian terroir flavors. Was excellent with pasta and tomato sauce.

This was a benchmark wine for me. One of those wines you have the fortune to taste 3-4 times a year (at least on my wine budget). The highlight of this Cab 60%/Merlot 40% blend was the nose. One of my scoring techniques is how many inches above the glass you can still get a good whiff and this was a good 2-3 inch wine. This is one of those sleeper wines without any scores and reviews but we had the pleasure to taste at the Newport wine festival in 2010 with one of Banfi's wine ambassadors from Italy extolling the virtues of this wine. Bought a bottle a few years later and had it tonight to celebrate my wife leaving her corporate career and all the BS that goes with it (you corporate minions know the crap they dish out). This wine tasted like a reserved $100 Cali Cab or some of the top Bordeaux I have had a pleasure to taste. Cedar, cassis, great fruit all enveloped with a long smoot finish. Just entering its drinking window with 5-10 years to go. Delicious!

Good mix of ripe red fruit and earthy tones on the nose. Full bodied, with plum, currant, and tar. Comes across as a serious, old world wine - despite Banfi's reputation as a new world style wine maker. Still a little tight after several hours, perhaps a year or two will open it up.

Nose: Ripe lavish fragrance of black berries, some damp foliage and earthy aromas plus some manganese indicative of Merlot presense and lead pencil speaking on behalf of Cabernet Sav. Taste: full-bodied, blackberry and tobacco, palpable yet pleasant tanins. Long finish. May be a bit too early to taste.

Medium color, nice truffles nose. Medium body, but nice berry notes plus vanilla. Medium finish.

Wafting flavors of cocoa hit the palate. A slight bitter finish detracts from the overall experience

consistent with notes of 9/25/2012, except this was ready to go right after opening.
