  • Good nose. A bit tart out of the bottle. By the end of the night it had opened up a lot. I really enjoyed this bottle.

  • Dark and cloudy crimson. Raspberry, menthol, and vanilla nose. Medium bodied, cranberries, tart cherries, red licorice, leather, a bit of heat, soft yet dry tannins, tingly acid, and a medium finish. Competent, but not really fully integrated.
Day 2: Better integrated but woodier.

  • Taste is muted straight out of the bottle. This wine really needs time in the decanter to open up. The bottle had quite a bit of sediment on the cork... more than any other I've had in my limited experience. Even 2 hours later there is still quite a bit of sediment at the end of each glass. Tastes of fruit quickly give way towards a finish of tobacco. Paired well with pork tenderloin, veggies, and chocolate for dessert. Overall, a good wine for the price.
