I have opened 1998 Vat 1, Lovedale and LHR Bin 9255 recently. The Vat 1 corks are good and the wine is amazing. The Lovedale corks are ok and the wine is slightly past it’s prime, maybe picked later. The Lindeman’s is fucked. Breathtakingly rubbish cork, TCA stripped, some oxidation. This wine never stood a chance. What a waste. I have not had one Hunter Semillon under Stellvin that was less than excellent, and I still remember how fabulous 1960 HRR Bin 1616 was, and under cork at 20 years plus.

2 x TCA. Mature, toasty and lanolin. Some variability due to age and cork. The good bottles are nice but do not reach the heights of older vintages from the 60's and 70's. Good BBQ quaffer.

Hazy notes from a few days ago. Classic Hunter Valley semillon here, and still quite youthful, with mainly lemon and other citrus notes at present; not many aged characteristics (e.g., toast, lanolin) yet. Should last a while yet, as it is still rather primary. A bit more intensity would be nice, but otherwise a very good wine (B+).

{cork} Guava and cut grass nose, with strong fresh lemons. A nutty tinge. Does rather sit on the front palate. Still very acidic. Medium length finish.

NobleRottersSydney - Hunter Valley; 8/13/1999-8/15/1999 (Hunter Valley): {cork} Pale straw colour. Sharp citrus and apple aromas yet feels much softer on the palate, suggesting an early drinker.
