Probably on the downward run now, but still holding up well. Red berries, leather, tar, savoury spice and vanillin oak on the nose. Fin etannins and a more fruitcake flavour on the palate. Medium+ finish. Not quite as good as the Yalumba Octavius '97 had recently, but still good.

Decanted for 3 hours. In a very good spot currently. Really has softened since the last bottle. Plenty of elegant fruit, silky smooth, wonderful concentration and balance. Finishes long and flavoursome. A great example of aged Barossa shiraz. Should keep for a few more years yet if you have the patience but why take the chance with the space it is currently in. Beautiful.

though it had some if was really wonderful. Lots of fruit and a very lenghty finish. Although I think the wine is at its peak I wish had more of it. Last bottle. Very pleasant and will surely buy more from this producer in the future.

The perfect Barossa Shiraz in my opinion and it's in the perfect place for drinking. Not too jammy, not too alcoholic, perfectly balanced, smooth velvety tannins with red fruit, plums, eucalyptus and a hint of vanilla and white pepper. With a rare kangaroo fillet and beetroot relish it was divine. I've used the word perfect quite a lot - well, I had 6 bottles of this, all consumed in the last few months, and they were all... perfect.

Still dominated by plums and very attractive. This was presenting better than the bottle from the same case nine months earlier. After an hour or two in glass, it started to sing. Lovely round tannins back this up to give a very balanced drink.

China Club BYO (China Club, Hong Kong): Brought by Ray from my stash London. Very sweet dark fruit - lots of plums. Quite primary - especially in comparison to the lighter French wines earlier. Some oak still evident but not alcoholic. It got more interesting with time in glass (should have been decanted for a couple of hours). I hope this will continue to evolve over the next few years.

Decanted for 30 minutes. Dark red colour. Dark chocolate, spice, blackfruit, forest floor / mushroom on nose and similar on palette along with a bit of raspberry. Smooth tannins and a long finish. A slight spice sweetness still from the oak. Very interesting stage as it is starting to get tertiary flavours. I'd say this still has longer to go - just a shame I don't have any more of it.

Deep (inky) purple. Initially a strong charred oak aroma overshadowed the fruit, but after aeration, lovely aromas of blueberry, coffee and spice emerged. Full bodied with concentrated fruit, silky tannins and balancing acidity. Long finish. At its prime.

Decanted 1 hour+. Very nice on the nose, shiraz fruit (mainly black berries and liquorice) in a very settled and dignified way. Not as powerful as I recall it 1,5 year ago but very savoury and tasty. Black berries and liquorice again in the mouth but very well balanced and classy. Had it with lamb roast with figs, fennel and apricots and it went very well, could be that the food subdued seconday flavours this time. Still a very, very nice aussie shiraz. The less powrful fruit vs last time implies it is starting to decline.

Almost Shiraz Night (Asia Grand): Beautiful dark purple. Deep dark fruits and hints of wilderness. Satin silky berryish flavours that stroke your palate with a complex mix of spices / mint. Extremely elegant and balanced mid-long finish. This wine is at its prime for drinking now!

Tried it a few years ago and was a bit disapointed. This wine has really opened up over the last 2 years. Beautiful nose and taste of black berries, leather, pepper and well integrated oak. Full bodied, yet complex and well balanced (almost burgundy-like texture) with lovely soft tannins on a long lasting finish. Drink now and the next couple of years - another excellent wine by Peter Lehmann!

Surprisingly muted nose and short finish. Still, some very nice fruit here, although it is overshadowed by the oak leaving the wine a little unbalanced. Soft, not at all tannic. A bit on the sweet side, which I prefer. Hard to believe the alcohol is as high as 14%. Not sure this will benefit from any further aging.

Newcastle Wine Club - December 05 (Restaurant II, Newcastle): Fruit unfortunately showing abit closed on the palette. Seems to be in abit of a dumb phase at the moment. With some time in the glass some smooth chocolate started to show though, but really needs afew more years to improve. Try again in 2010.

Doug's 60th Birthday Party; 7/28/2006-8/9/2006 (Civita Castellana, Palazzo Doug & Jeanette): Viscous, black. Spicy nose; can feel the alcohol fumes in the nose and eyes. On palate, rich and firm tannins, high alcohol (label says 14%), sensation of sweetness, oaky, moderate acidity, extremely concentrated. Fine Shiraz (none of that jammy fruitiness).
