Slightly oxidized but in a very good way - added a very interesting and nice flavor profile to the wine. This had hints of iodine, red fruit, sous bois, and an earthy profile. Sadly, it was my only bottle.

Grande Marque Hospices de Beaune Tasting (Des Plaines, IL): Sit down tasting. Slightly madeirized, but in the best possible way. OK, I would probably not think this is Pinot Noir if served blind, but certainly a complex, mature, engaging wine that wonderfully juxtaposes fruit and earth, sweet and savory.

So cool that a wine from pre WW2 still has life in it...red fruit and soft tannins were still there...other flavors were earthy and very classic burgundy.

A surprisingly deep colour for a wine so old. Possibly souped-up with something else. That said, an exceptional bottle of old Burgundy with a good life still ahead of it.

Long overdue post, but this was still alive.

Zachys La Paulée "Warm-up" Dinner (Lafayette - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. Late night. 100% Pinot Noir? Unclear. But so tasty and complex with layers of fruit, mushroom and earth.
