Some funkiness on the nose after opening, but it blew off and was quite enjoyable. Earth and tar on the nose. Very round and probably now and will not improve with more cellaring in my opinion.

Bought 4b for 30/b about 12 years ago from a local independent store; this is #1. Decanted with normal sediment for its age. Dark purple; fragrant red fruit, some spice; mature fruit, mildly tart cherry, some spice, very good mouthfeel; good persistence. Delicious, glad I have more. Good complement to gourmet lasagna. Stored horizontally in a cool, dark basement since purchase. My evaluation: For me, scores on a "100-point scale" are misleading. I use a 4-category scale (perhaps with +/-)--not including flawed--which runs outstanding/notable/drinkable/poor. This is notable+ when considering quality, age, and price.

Tasted every day for 4 days. Opaque to the edge, with dense aromas of black cherry and violets. The sip has firm and persistent acidity and tannin up front, and adds blackberry. The swallow is the best part of the taste, with rich fruit, strong and drying structure, the beginning of a lush texture, and a long and surprisingly juicy finish. Aging well, in great shape, and very enjoyable, but still needs more years of aging to get more integrated, lush, and seamless.

At first quite restrained nose and the taste is a bit all over place. After one and half hours the wine comes together and shows how good it actually is. Dark berries, blue berries, nice depth, a quality wine. Sometimes compared to the more expensive Tignanello, I prefer Borgo's style.

Initially thought the wine closed, with a small bit of leather and cherry. After a second smell I thought it gave up hints of cedar and dark fruit. At tasting, I thought the wine a bit light and starting to fade a bit. I also thought the tannins almost completely resolved, but still had an acid backbone. Nice dark fruits came through obviously. I thought it showed age and I thought it, perhaps, a bit past its time. A good showing.

Long forgotten beauty in the cellar, drinking great. Rich and full after several minutes open, integrated mild tannin and very subdued fruit. Still very pretty and delicious.

Popped and decanted, and drank over the next four hours. Dark purple in color. A bit of funk that blew off in 15-20 minutes. Leather and earthy. Not overly mouth filling, and no huge blast of fruit like I have experienced with other Barolo. Not very long of a tail.
Got much better two hours after opening and really opened up. Blueberries and softer mouthfeel. Still no long tail, but I'll take it.

Decanted for about 40 mins. This was really good now, lots of cassis and a bit of leather, good tannins, definitely in a very nice spot at 10 years of age. Was excellent with a leg of lamb!

Nice example of Tuscan blend....earthy, balanced, expected connectivity of fruit and terroir that leaves a pleasing taste and finish. A bit strong on the tannins but opened up with 90 minutes of air.

Happily surprised with this wine. Picked up 3 bottles on clearance for $15 each, so even though this has never been one of my fav IGT's, it was a no-brainer. Simple yet pleasing nose of mainly licorice, and a med-full body that, while not particularly complex, offered depth of fruit, a nice sangio acidity, and a bit of a teeth-coating finish. I think this will be better in a few years.

Leather, earth blueberries. Smelled and tasted like a decent brunello but nothing overwhelming. Medium bodied with some minerality in the mouth with a somewhat clipped finish. Easy drinker and went well with pizza.

- Garnet color - Tasty. Nicely blended flavors with just enough tannin to keep it honest.

Tuscan Reds and Pinot Gris of the World (Farpointe Cellar): The nose had tar, ink, pancetta, and a bit of chocolate towards the end. The palate was rich and thick, and had ink, tar, chocolate and a bacon finish.
