My last bottle of six. This was still vigorous and vibrant, lots of blue, red and black fruit on nose and palate, a little bit chunky but winning one over with its sweet fruit and underpinning structure. Very nice wine.

Bricked light red. Nose shows autumnal notes, earthy, sour cherry with a hint of spice. On taste a sappy strawberry turning to cherry with tannins very smooth. Excellent flavor throughout the palate, almost sweet. A long finish with a slight spine or structure still there. Well resolved and a very nice Corton. Not much experience with Cortons so I imagine this is still a bit young. I have had the Pougets versions from earlier vintages and they were more primary than this Corton Greves. As this wine opens up much more intensity and complexity. The spice notes are coming out with tumeric? and mint notes. Mint is just a hint.

Acker Merrall Second Chicago Auction (Elysian Hotel - Chicago IL): Red fruit on nose and palate with a few emerging earthy elements and some dried herbs in the background. Incredibly accessible for such a young Corton, this is another well made 2000 drinking well today.

Classic French mini-tasting: In a beautiful place right now. Clean, fresh strawberry and red cherry fruit; a bit of cream, a bit of liquorice; sweet and ethereal in the mouth. Super finish

This is quite firmly structured and quite lean, too lean to my taste. Unfortunately there does not seem to be much fruit behind the structure. There is a nice earth nose. And the fruit did start to come out several hours after opening the bottle, but I would not call it grand cru fruit. On the second night it had not changed much, which to me indicates this wine will last for years, but I worry there is not enough substance (that is fruit) to support the wine has it evolves. That said, I will not open another one for a couple years at least.

Served blind, people were throwing out all kinds of superlatives. Imagine their surprise when the label was revealed! A beautiful, elegant wine that is drinking absolutely perfectly right now.

Consistent notes with the tannins silkier and the flavors more elegant. The palate is broad and the flavors refined. Still young.
