Beautiful nose initially musky but that blew off revealing violet berries and some tea. Palate was not as alluring slightly lacking finish and structure.

A wonderful nose of violets and sweet fruit. Even a touch herbal. The nose was exciting the palate was a bit too soft and lacking structure. Some dark cherry fruit. Not sure this has the structure to improve.

Still in it's infancy, pure and deep nose with clean, ripe fruit dominating. Complex with oak scents delicately intertwined. Palate reveals it's pedigree, tannins are abundant but ultra refined, distinct sweet aspect too. Balance is great altogether.Complexity also show in the palate. A real treat, kept changing in the glass too. Much better that a Corbeaux from the same year that Ihad a couple of years ago.

Not a hair out of place and certainly none of the awkwardness I've seen in many other 98s. So smooth, elegant and even ravishing on the palate. Lovely mix of red and black fruits. Could drink this all day.

BWC 2014 - The Grand Crus of Chambertin: Graceful and elegant in its expression of musk and pungent minerals. Feels entirely secondary and rather forward, although there are details that emerge slowly in the density of palate. The wine is perfumed and very long and immediately attractive in this beautiful stewed fruit and woodsy way, but in the end i think is about the complex interplay of mineral and musk. i want more.

Elegant and light but almost too light. I felt the mid palate was missing fruit but the initial texture was very alluring. I got to enjoy a small pour of it but the secondary characteristics of earth I thought were far more prevailing than fruit. It had a freshness but more of soil than anything. Drink up?

Superb! Wonderful aromatics - damsons, blueberries, wild raspberries, and plenty of dirt. Shimmering structure and silky mouthfeel, vital and vigorous.

Sasi's Birthday Burgs (Restaurant Alba, Keong Saik Road): Not sure why this has not been reviewed all that well. It was a really lovely wine on the night. Beautiful nose. Oh my goodness, perfumed flowers, woflberries, iron-ore, and red fruits galore just giving way to hints of meat and a hint of sous bois at the edges. Wonderful purity of expression on that bouquet - clearly top-notch Gevrey, but I guessed it was a Clos St. Jacques instead. Palate carried on the theme of great purity, with a lovely show of red fruit - strawberries, super-pure dark cherries, a nice underlayer of blueberries, all with lots of flesh and sap. Nice finish too, showing fresh acid, lots of mineral and a dash of spice along with tons of mouth-filling red fruit. Never sweet, never ripe, just really pure and expressive. A joyous expression of the Charmes terroir, with not a hint of the hard 1998 meanies to be found. This really put a smile on my face. The others preferred the 2001 Mugnier Les Fuees on the night, but this was my favourite red wine.

Relatively complex nose of overripe strawberry and sous bois. Medium body on the palate with resolved tannins and a bright acidic finish. Tasted late in the evening and after it was open for quite some time...the score reflects what it potentially was without too much air.

Burgundy Dinner at Mike's (Wellington): Ruby, matte. Intense nose of fruit, flowers and earth. Intense on palate too with savoury and fruity richness, good minerality, just-right acidity, ripe tannins. Very long and complex; continued developing/improving in the glass over a few hours. Outstanding, WOTN.

At times, very good with a great and pure nose of mineral-infused red fruit. But the midpalate is somewhat weak. A very good wine, but probably for drinking in the near future. I needs about an hour of air to blow off a bit of funk.

Colour - red with some browning Aroma - gamey, feral, mushrooms, red fruits and cherries. Palate - quite evolved, with nice fruit sweetness and good tannins but a little disjointed. The finish is long but has bitterness and stalkiness without the element of purity I look for. I very much enjoyed this on release. Age is doing it no favours. Drink up.
