Out of the bottle the nose was overly floral and sharp. After 15 minutes in the glass it improved considerably. Cherry and sweet ripe plums. A little vegetative on the finish, but good. Medium finish. My last bottle. Held up well and better than I expected after reading recent reviews.

Very disappointing. Tasting at the winery was terrific...but opening up a 2006 bottle after years of proper storage to find a $6 table wine at best. Thin, unimpressive and flat.

There is nothing like a good GSM. This didn't disappoint. Rich and lively, with wonderful fruity texture balanced by soft, supple fruity charm. Just a joy.

I have always liked this wine, and this bottle is no exception. There is still a lot of substance in it even after 6 years. Nice mouth feel, Red fruits, mild tannins, and a moderate finish. Nicely balanced.

Byzance (French for "luxurious") is a Southern Rhone-Style Red Blend of Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre (GSM). Deep garnet in color, the nose discovered black cherries, plums, blueberries and black pepper. On the palette, I found a blend of black fruit, with hints of chocolate and spices on a long finish. Excellent!

Just pulled it out from the cellar to see how it was holding up and it is showing beautifully. Initially seemed sharp, after five minutes in the glass it opened up with bright fruit, juicy tannin, subtle oak and a long finish. The texture is excellent, enough grip to be interesting bit not overpowering.

Was impressed with this one at the winery, but it's not great at home. A solid GSM offering, but nothing exciting or interesting. Just competent. Not a great value for the price. Wouldn't complain at $12, but at $27, it should be better.

Had over a couple of nights. This is a big, rich wine. The first night apparant oak treatment was slow to burn off and was to heavy for my taste. No detailed notes taken, but this showed better after the bottle was set aside for a couple days. (If I were more a fan of such richness and fruit dominance I'd have scored higher.) It's a well made wine, very good. Pair with roasted red meats, especially those with dark fruit based accompaniments and/or spices.

This would be good with holiday food. I really liked it because it has a rich taste and feel. Teresa warmed up to it. The artwork on the bottle is beautiful and the tasting room hosts were very kind.

Hints of plum, medium tannins, earthy, full-bodied, nice legs.

Magnificent now, and should continue to be great for a little while longer.

The bright fruit carries through all the way to the finish. Well balanced and integrated wine. Very lovely blend. (did I really say lovely?)

A very nice grenache based wine w/ hints of underbrush to the black fruit flavors. Good length and a little grip.
