From a magnum purchased at the winery, nose of black cherry, black berry, cassis and a hint of barnyard, the same on the palate, big body, mouth filling fruit, elegant and very tasty, lots of secondary and tertiary flavors, reminds me of Pomerol, and a long, long, long, flavorful finish and lovely aftertaste, 2 photos uploaded showing bottle sediment of 22 years in the cellar

I was told the winery is ceasing Merlot varietal wine!

From a 750 ml auction bottle, waited 7 years to enjoy this Merlot, nose of black cherry, dusty earth, and black berry tonight, same on the palate, medium/big body, mouth filling fruit, tasty, slightly past peak drinking at age 20 years but great to sip and savor with sharp cheddar cheese, long finish.

From a magnum directly purchased from the winery, nose of black cherry, black berry, cassis and plum, the same on the palate, big body, mouth filling fruit, elegant and very tasty, paired with the left over Fleming Steak, at its peak, tasty from the first sip to the last sip two days later, gaining more secondary flavors now, and a long, long flavorful finish and aftertaste. The best Twomey Merlot ever!!!

Saw a magnum on the top shelf and decided to enjoy while working on the income tax for last year, nose of black cherry, blackberry, plum, and fig, more of the same on the palate, concentrated merlot with lots of rich, ripe fruit on the first sip, lots of flavor and complexity here, the magnum was purchased directly from Twomey and worth the extra money paid for it, elegant wine, enjoyed over 3 nights, medium/big body, still fresh and youthful tasting, great finish and aftertaste.

Sunday, the second day of Wildcard Weekend and I ws planning to enjoy both NFL Games today so I opened a magnum of my favorite wine. This magnum was purchased directly from David Duncan/Twomey thanks to the efforts of Tom Laengle. Bouquet of cassis, black cherry and blackberry which exploded when opening the bottle and being poured into my glass, more of the same on the palate, extremely rich, mouth filling, intensely concentrated fruit on the mid palate, one of the best bottles of this wine I have ever enjoyed, sipped and savored for four hours, elegant to taste, medium/big body and great finish and aftertaste. The best part is I have one half the magnum to enjoy Monday Night!!

Sunny, breezy, and low seventies seemed like a great excuse to open a magnum of wine for the weekend. This was purchased about 18 months ago directly from David Duncan/Twomey thanks to the efforts of Tom Laengle. Bouquet of cassis, black cherry and plum, more of the same on the palate, extremely mouth filling and decadently rich on the mid palate, the second best bottle of this wine that I have ever enjoyed, elegant, medium/big body and long, long, luscious finish and aftertaste. This is Merlot Bordeaux style!

Magnum purchased from Silver Oak/Twomey Library on 2/25/15 Silver Oak Napa Valley Release Day. Saved one half the magnum to drink tonight, stored overnight in the refrigerator, lovely nose of black cherry fruit, touch of blackberry, white pepper, and dusty earth/minerals, more of the same on the palate, elegant tasting, rich fruit, medium/big body, at its peak, slight oxidation showing tonight, long fruity finish and aftertaste.

Won a bottle at Winebid.com auction. Nose of dark cherry fruit with a touch of Sumatra coffee, cassis, and briar, more of the same on the palate, elegant and mouth filling, easy sipping wine, bottle and taste shows okay storage conditions, at its peak, drink up unless you are lucky enough to own large format bottles.

The first release of Twomey Merlot, about 65 cases made, tasted 7 times, my wine group of 8 people, 5 bought a bottle that day. This bottle showed slight brick red but bright and very dark color, with hints of dark black cherry fruit and touch of cedar on the nose, mouth drying merlot taste that was silky smooth and elegant, hints of black cherry fruit on the palate, medium, soft finish, tannins that were present 3 years ago are gone, just delicious for a merlot. Twomey has a new winemaker hired 6 months ago, he worked at Chateau Petreus so the merlot will get better.

Deliciously dense, complex and fruity. Though I think its showing its age a bit with slight tar/stewed fruit coming through. Drink now!

Unbelievable how great this Merlot is still drinking. Hats off to the Duncan team! Enjoyed with '99 Staglin and '99 Rubicon through dinner.

decanted as an offensive action. i tried everything/anything to get this wine to show me something.
put woodchips in a blender, some vanilla extract, and ferment at your own risk. the only thing this bottle lacks is a hazardous materials label.
i can't believe the tannins will ever allow what little fruit is hiding to come out.
i ran a geiger counter over it, and it's not radioactive. cool.

Tart and rough back-palate tastes. Thin. Winery tasting of the 2001 shortly after release was horrible. No More.
