Still yummy. Cresting, possibly over the crest, but still in my like very much like zone. I would say "Drink'm if you Got'm". Almost forgot, tons of sediment, I utilized a pourer with a screen.

i remember this wine years ago being tough, too oaky and harsh with acid. It has calmed down quite a bit. Berries are starting to pop, sweet tannin from syrah showing with spice in the mid palate. very good. A little funk and some chocolate. I also think this could age longer and gain complexity if stored properly. This is a old world styled wine with new world intensity. Good sneaker in a blind CDP tasting; just to be a curveball

Time has done this vintage well, and certainly more lively than the 2002, consumed just the day prior. Far more fruity with lots of blue and blackberry, a hint of smoke and just a touch of sweetness. It was only enhanced when paired with the spice of a tender jerk pork chop, although flavors were muted when paired with soft and medium-hard cheeses. Medium finish and good balance of tannins and acidity. I presume it to be very near its prime.

Like many Ridge wines with a bit of age, balanced, full-bodied but thankfully free of Brett or any defect. Deep purple in color with enough youth to go longer. But why, drinking fab now.

Difficult for me to give Ridge a sub-90 point score. This wine was certainly good technically but it seemed too over-oaked and tannic. I've always suspected that Ridge used the ATP program wine to prime barrels for other vintages. I have another bottle...so we'll try it in several years to see if the tannins have mellowed.

Upon Opening: color is dark ruby red to purple. The nose is bursting with juicy ripe raspberries, sweet dark cherries in fresh syrup. The taste is surprisingly tannic - I didn't figure that with the nose being so fruity. lead pencil shavings. Baked Cherries, vibrant, explosive, fruity, balanced. this is real good from the first pour. the taste lingers a long while leaving the taste buds coated with a drying, earthy fruitiness - it makes you want more.
At 4 hours: (vacuum sealed after initial opening) color same, nose has more riper notes. garrigue. still prominent. The taste is big. strong, full flavored wine that has balance as well. Reminds me a bit of Carlisle's style. The after taste has a prominent lead pencil note. Not unpleasant, as the fruit more than covers it, but seems a bit much. Would pair this with a hearty fatty meat - barbecue or grilled steak. The prevailing note for me is the power of the wine.
At 1 day: (vacuum sealed and stored in fridge at 40 degrees) color and nose same as 4 hours. less prominent nose. a bit tired. Still has balance but the fruit has become one dimensional for me. still a nice finish and acidity, but that variety of fruit and spice on the taste buds has been reduced.
Based on this specific bottle, I'd say drink these up if you have them. While they will probably last for a few more years, I don't see any point in aging them further.

Still youthful, deep purple, smoky blueberry nose. Flavors include new oak, blueberry, ample tannins and just enough acidity for balance. Good, not great. Drink now.

HUGE nose that goes on and on. Fruit, wood, spice, its all there. Very fragrant. Taste is Big but lively - lots of dark fruit, sandal wood, earth, leather. In spite of obviously ripe fruit (yes a touch of grape sweet lurking in the background but not intrusive in any way) and 14.7% alcohol, this wine manages to stay light and lively with the right amount of acid. These guys have a deft touch - power and still finesse. Back label says 5-7 years from 07 but I say drink it now instead of when its a beautiful toothless gem in another decade!

Popped and poured; deep purple with raspberry rim, medium bodied wine; interesting nose - tar, meat, blue fruits; iron, meat, blueberries, strawberries, with some spicey notes on the tongue; fine tannins, medium finish. A very nice wine - seemed "Old World" to me, a pleasant suprise for a Cali wine.

Second wine with Beef bourguignon. Dark ruby with a touch of purple, no longer opaque but still bursting with life. Good nose, lets you know this is a large scale produciton. A lot of stuffing on the palate, everything pulls together - easily paired with the richness of the meal.

Slightly less impressed second time around. A bit lighter on its feet, depth gone, shorter than I recall, less character. Day V - Same super funk of NY garbage. Getting some bakers chocolate, sweet tannins, big rich fruit. Still holds together.

Wow, what a suprise. Great color, great nose. Some kind of funky backed caremel apple pie smell? Or is it rotting red meat? Not sure but I like it. Seems like is still young, balanced, just a nce well made drop. Too bad I had to quit ATP for the heavy Zin loading, now I miss out on these babies... Really feel the integration of the grapes and this will be an amazing wine in 2-3 years.

Excellent Rhone blend! Didn't have a decanter available but certainly could have used one. Still very tannic, but well balanced. Nose was a bit tight but loosened up in the glass to produce dark berries, smoke, some tobacco and an underlying cotton-candy sweetness. I'd like to see this wine in another year or two. I think the acidity will hold up the fruit and allow it to come forward as the tannins settle more, though very enjoyable now.

Nose - rustic, berry, morel, a bit of a meaty/smoky/molasses note. Meaty, smoky black fruit, mushroom, blackberry, loquat, mango, raspberry, dusty tannin, jasmine, lime zest. Drink '13-'20.

Another Ridge extravaganza with Lee and Lisa - on the night opened and enjoyed four bottles: '05 Ridge Lytton West Syrah, '05 Syrah/Grenache, '03 Petite Sirah, Lytton Estate and '02 Lytton Estate Syrah II. Enjoyed all with the '03 Petite Sirah and '02 Syrah II being judged the favorites.

Great wine. This smells and tastes like a good CdP. Notes of meat, smoke, and berries on the nose. THe tase is complex, but a little disjointed. I'll leave the others for a year before trying again. GOod qpr.

To early to drink this wine, but I couldn't stop myself from opening this wine. The last Syrah/Grenache from Ridge was to die for- it was what made me join Ridge's ATP. Nose is earthy. Tastes of ripe red fruits and minerally with a little heat and acid on the finish. At this point this isn't a wine I'll buy again- good, but not great. I'm looking forward to how it drinks in 1-2 years or even longer.
