  • A very pale, hazy tawny color. An instantly open, distinct and pleasant nose of nuts, nougat, dried fruits such as figs and oranges and some herbal notes. Also the kind of mix of wood and dust that makes one think of old furniture. While the fruit here is of the dried kind, it is definitely not dried up but vibrant and delicious, like a dried fruit marmalade. On the palate youthfully sweet and juicy with a good structure and some alcoholic warmth and spice towards the drying finish. The flavor profile is very much that of the nose, a delicious mix of dried fruits and nutty/woody notes. Quite gentle overall, yet still very intense and lively. Nothing sticky here, in the end this is quite dry actually. Excellent with Stilton and Fourme d'Ambert, unsurprisingly, but also equally great with some medium hard mountain cheeses. No idea about the price, but regardless this is a terribly nice Colheita that evaporates at a fast pace and was a thorough success at our Christmas table.
