Wow, this has really improved! Leathery and cherry, and suffused with a warm glow of tertiary flavour. Finishing with bright acidity. Too bad I drank the other ones too soon and this is my last bottle.

Good color but not youthful; rather all flavors are completely secondary at this point. Soft red fruit and some savory braised meat notes. Pinot not quite obvious on the nose, but unmistakable on the palate. Drinks well now; and should hold awhile in bottle but I'd bet on drinking sooner than later if I owned more.

Underwhelming. Odd oaky, sawdust/oatmeal notes on the nose, along with some fruit. A bit of a one-note wonder on the palate with some strawberry-rhubarb fruit but little else of interest. Everything seemed subdued, probably due to age. Not enough spice or other complexity, to be sure. Light bodied and somewhat acidic. Actually a bit tannic on the finish, odd as that may seem. We drank this on its own, but I think it would probably show a little better with food.

Balanced with bright fruit, earth and mushrooms, stemmy resolved tannins and a hint of fragrant spice on the finish. Went extremely well with our simple meal of slightly spicy cedar planked salmon. 2 hours in a decanter.

Bright garnet colour with only the slightest hint of brick at the edges. Sour cherry and raspberries immediately waft up. Lots of fruit here. Slight earthiness, flowery notes follow. Oak is very slight and beautifully integrated. Medium-bodied with excellent acidity still present. Velvety smooth finish. A great example of what a red Burgundy should be! At $27 a bottle, one of the best value wines I have ever encountered.

One hour in the decanter. Nose as with oak, some smoke, earth, and some berries. A mature bourgogne with medium body and complexity. Soft tannins and long earthy aftertaste. Very enjoyable with food of light meat. Recommended.

Decanted 1 hour. Quite soft on the nose, light body with fruits and clear earth and mineral tones. Well balanced with a long mature aftertaste. Enjoyable.

Amazing how different two bottles can be. This is a lot better than the previous one. Got about an hour of air in the decanter. The same nose as last time with oak, barnyard, earth, and some berries. Had a lot more of mature fruit and good velvety tannin than the first bottle we drank. A pleasant surprise, worked perfect with food.

I just love this bottle....such great character. It is never going to stand in for a single vineyard grand cru but @ $26 I get the earth, spice, sour cherry, and old world pinot compelxity

C: Light red with brick rim N: Dark fruit character. Development of tobacco and stable. The wine has a tone of minerals and the fruit is slightly harsh lingonberry. P: Soft dark fruit and a nice acidity level. Typical stable tones, slightly harsh but very nice.

Doft av röd frukt, stall,läder och tobak smaken är slank med silkiga tanniner och röd frukt. samtidigt mustigt och hygglig kraft. riktigt gott och flaskan försvinner snabbt ;-)

Light red color with brick at the edges. Nice initial nose with oak, barnyard, earth and some berries. Taste was OK but very withdrawn. Lacked concentration and fruit. The elements where there but didn’t have the strength to bloom. After the first half glass, what was there inititally disappeared more or less. Lost its vigor and vitality. Others who tried the same wine last week gave it lot higher points. Might be bottle variation. Have some more that will be interesting to try later on.

Ruby red colour with only a slight brick colour along the edges. Very good fruit on the nose, with secondary earthy characteristics, but they're not overpowering. Predominant aromas and flavours are of cherry, raspberry, and general red fruit. Slight aromas of vanilla and barrel aging follow, but again are very well integrated. Bright acidity, great for a 12-year old wine. More light-bodied than a typical Cote-de-Nuits Excellent value.

First try of old world Pinot, have so far stuck to kiwi pinots, tasted the classic mushroomy, barn yard flavors, cherry nose, slight tar palette, but fruit was weak, too acidic and within an hour... Not much fun... Guess it's old, and on it's last legs... Got 1 more, given other CT comments on bottle variation, still deciding wether to return it or give it one more try...

Second bottle of six purchased. The first was lovely, a fading Burgundian beauty that still had all the barnyard, dark cherry fruit, zing of acidity and soft tannins that make us all fans. The second bottle had the barnyard and acid, but the fruit was battling with a whiff of TCA. So bottle variances may account for the disparate experiences from other CT users so far. I have four left, and plan to keep and open them in hopes they return to the experience of bottle #1.

Well, if this better than many California pinots at twice the price, then those Cali pinots should be poured down the drain. The bottle I openned was plonk, full stop. Nose - not much nose at all, some tannin. Palette - not much fruit, still tannic. Score on openning - 85 or 86. After 1 hour decante, a major decline. Score 80, if that. Any fruit that was there is gone, just tannin and acid. Plonk. Sure it was $25, but there is no QPR. I gave this bottle (and the other 2 I bought) back to the LCBO. FYI, Coates rates 1999 very poorly, which is why the LCBO probably got a deal on this. There is a sucker born ever minute I guess, me included.

I have to up this slightly from my Canadian CT brothers, I thought when you balance QPR this is an absolute winner, I was expecting a bit more complexity, but for $27 this beats many a Cali Pinot for twice the price and I'll be buying more - Dark with a slight amber, medium bodied with a nose of cherry, licorice, spice, earth and vanilla, decent complexity, nicely made, sour, tart on the palate with medium length, fabulous QPR! (90 Points).

This had all of the character of premier cru beaune from a great vintage but it lacked the compexity of single vineyard or grandcru. If you like burgundy, really like it, the character, then I can't see how you wont enjoy this. I got it for $26.75CAD which is a total steal.
Had this over 10 days ago and had been too busy to put down a note. So this is from memory. Consumed over 2 days. A good 11 years old burgundy with dry mushroom and cherry aroma. Bright and still palpable rather than velvety tannin. Drinking quite well now. Did not improve on day 2. Excellent.
