  • blind, a flight of 3 x 2001
The "weakest" of the 3, at his peak, old school style, a bit too sweet, some nuts. 93

  • Got my hands on another bottle and opened it a few weeks ago. My note from 2018 is definitely related to bottle condition. This one had all the magic of a youthful experience similar to bottle 1.

    Drink up fully mature.

  • Cork showed signs of seepage.
Single piece cork rather short for the wine quality.

Not decanted, tasted over 90 minutes
    Evolved pale gold colour.

Nose is discreet, bit shows faint traces of oxidation. Some primary aromas still present (lime, white flowers). Almost no kerosene.

Flavours are clean but overall, i was disappointed by the lack of impact this bottle had on me vs the same one tasted a few years back.

Could be the condition of this particular bottle. Sadly the last of the lot.

  • A tremendous aged Riesling from Rheingau. Breuer is one of best German Riesling producers. I love the 2001 vintage in Germany. Still on the fresh side with a lot of pink grapefruit and yuzu but with a nice beginning of ripeness. Creamy, round and a long clean finish. Some yellow stone fruits in the end palate. Still not at his end, beginning of his peak. 96+

  • Amazing stuff. Has richness and refreshing acidity without the cloyingness of excess oak. Fully dry. Great wine.

  • Perfectly ripe Riesling of which subtlety and purity were the hallmarks. The nose evolved in the glass showing intense lime, apricot, orange blossom and spiced apple. The palate had just a hint of fruit sweetness beatifully counterbalanced by a slate/mineral character. The texture was creamy totally coating the mouth with flavour but there was no mistaking the razor sharp backbone provided by the acidity. This wine was the perfect match with slow roasted pork belly and was just about the best Riesling I've drunk this year.

  • UltimoWineCentre - German wine dinner: The Roseneck is almost a pale green colour. The nose is soft and muted, perhaps offering a little flint and cold steel by way of aromas. It’s very dry on the palate, and has an almost floury texture – the acid is there but the fruit seems very ripe. The balance is all very front-palate though, although there’s respectable length on the finish.
