The creamy and lemony nose is well balanced. There is lively acidity on the palate that balances richness, minerality and a dry finish. This is drinking well now.

8th of 12, pnp, perfect cork and level, not sure that this isn't developing more depth and richness in a wine that 2 years ago was a tad lean and mean, with its underlying style and balance, it's becoming a very lovely wine and on edge of warranting higher rating. Certainly F (17.5).

Pale gold but still looks fresh. Nice Whiff of spice and oak. No premox issues. Lovely, intense fruit- acid keeps things tight but ultimately lacks seamless elegance. Overshadowed by a Ramonet chassagne la boudriotte drunk at the same time which was text book Chardonnay.

Drinking 2007 Sauzet has more than a touch of Casino to it. This bottle came from a favourable deal with a green gold colour correct for age and a lovely nose of white peach and nectarine with touches of white flowers and fennel. The palate is quite rich with a slightly jarring note of acid and grip which lacks the usual finesse of this wine. However the overall effect is of an excellent food wine.

Clear, pale gold in colour. Clean nose, pronounced intensity aromas of ripe yellow fruit (apple, pear), citrus (lemon), stone fruit (white peach, nectarine), oak (vanilla, smoke, toast), mlf (butter), floral (honeysuckle), other (wet stone, gun flint), tertiary (nuts). The wine is developing. The palate is dry with high acidity, medium alcohol, medium body, medium (+) intensity flavours of pear, lemon, peach, smoke, toast, mineral, nuts. Long finish. Outstanding quality wine. Acidity balances the fruit, which is concentrated and complex. The finish is long and persistent. All very well integrated. Drink now, not suitable for further ageing. This is drinking perfectly now, nice balance of primary and tertiary flavours, still fresh. I'd suggest drinking in next two years - I'd be worried about this starting to fade and certainly to lose that freshness.

A very well made wine, but not showing puligny character. By the color before tasting I thought I've blown it by opening too early. in the nose the wood was present but subtle. Some minerality but no fruit and a light oxidated character. Not bad and even appealing to some degree, but seemed past its peak. A shame.

Sunday Dinner at Formento's (Chicago, IL): I'm not sure if I'm comfortable calling the pox on this bottle or if it was something else, but there was something that didn't sit right with me. There's definitely some signs of reduction (and it's not so much the sulphur as it is a slight mustiness) on the nose, but the palate has just begun to develop a tinge of sherry character. I also felt that the palate wasn't quite there... I had higher expectations for what I've always thought of as a great producer (premox issues notwithstanding). I forgot to check in on this later in the evening.

Tasted over 6 hours - and the last 2 hours were the most rewarding. Light gold hue. Nose soars with orchard fruit, red and green apple, honey and wet rocks. Round palate has medium-to-full bodied ripe white fruit and is taut with acidic tension. Long with lifted mineral and fresh cut apples in the finish. Impeccably balanced with great verve and length. Top notch.

This had a very pronounced saline / savory component working along with smokiness and baked pears and stone fruits. The acidity cut through the more rich elements and gave a great balance to the wine. Premox is always a risk, but this appears to have many years ahead of it. Delicious.

Tom & Tami's French and California Extravaganza: Blind. Guessed French. Golden yellow and quite brilliant in the glass. Nose is distinctly citrus fruit. Palate shows more red apple and light citrus. Gentle fruit profile. Finish hints of sandalwood and an excellent balance. Another winner.

Chardonnay Blind--CA and France @ Tom Moore's Place (Tom's House): Tasted blind. Ah, hello old friend. This was a WOTY for me a few years back and was key for me discovering white burgundy. I have enjoyed several of them in the past, long since drank my last one and have not reloaded any Sauzet as I believe the wines have become too expensive. As to how this showed, it's got nice balance, lithe and complete at this stage, with lemon peel, stone/flint and a briny quality. In a good spot now.

this wine totally outclassed fevre's champs gain from the same vintage, nose was reticent at first but came forward after 30 minutes, the palate was really big and dense and with loads of fruit and perfume and i don't know what... a kaleidoscope of a wine, if this doesn't premox i imagine it to be blockbuster in ten years when it all tones down just a bit, nonetheless a fantastic drink today if you are ok with big

One year in between bottles, which is similar in time to when I last tried the bottle I paired next to this, the 08 Bouchard Genevrieres. That wine was beautiful tonight, after a day of slow oxing in the bottle (no decant) and so with the Chanp Canet here, the same treatment. Consumed with a slight chill, without food for this note. I had made a remark y/day that I thought this wine was aging fast but I need to erase that comment, as what I find today is the wine maintaining a lot of acid, a good core of it. There is what seems like a hint of sulfur on the nose, just faint. In the palate, it's less balanced and nuanced than the Bouchard Genevrieres, although I don't find any oak even at the edges here and the acidity in the Champ Canet is much higher, more burly and undefined as compared to the Bouchard. As much slate in this wine as the Genevrieres, texturally even moreso. Pungent lemon, tart nectarine, green apple in place of the other wine's yellow, too. This seems to have plenty of life, a focused core of acid and energy which feels a little rugged so my aging comment from y/day was far off. Drink window? Putting aside any pre-mox comments, I say this peaks in a few more years and strides for several more.

Has puligny richness of fruits but shows mineral attributes. Superb balance despite it's vintage. In fact the rich opulence reminded me of a batard. Surprisingly open for business now. Has some orange blossoms and rounded nectarines.

Simply a beautiful wine. Thanks for the heads up FMIII as this has also become my white WOTY. The nose reveals green apple and pear with a touch of white floral notes. The palate is where this wine really shines. Wonderful transparency with the mineral, green apple and pear all blending together to create a cohesive union that leads to a long balanced finish where the lemon citrus acidity shines brightly. Power and grace at its finest. I should have purchased a case.

Wonderful texture and finesse. Mineral/fruit dialog begins on first whiff and continues a beautiful give-and-take beyond the finish. We PnP'ed, but agree that this benefits from air. Will decant the next bottle.

Super again. Citrus, delcate with good delineation and balance. Not likely this will be overtaken by another white before the EOY, and since this wine has consistently peformed for me over several bottles this year, probably now a safe call for my 2011 white WOTY.

My 4th bottle in less than a year. Opened last night, have enough left to share with my wife and I for dinner tonight. I believe what draws me to this particular Sauzet is the way it seems chablis-like. The nose is fresh and steely, with crisp green fruit and pear. The palate is medium weight but very much dominated by the same pear and apple notes, along with a good spine of acidity in the form of lemon and saline. There are some edges that are more like a yellow apple, with some honey but for the most part, I'm trying to conveying crisp and focused, which is more what green apple, a pippin says to me over the golden delicious/yellow type. The finish shows a spicy note, again this time like a baked apple pie. The finish shows a nice minerality, crisp and a bit rocky, which again is where the chablis reference is helpful. I have 3 bottles left, having bought another 2 this week so I'll keep enjoying them. I also own the 2008 and 2009, as well as the same bottling in 2008 from Carillon, so with time, I hope to get a nice handle on why this climat seems to work for me. It surely does in this 2007, once again.

Popped and poured. Light yellow gold hue. Initially somewhat reticent, with air this shows notes of green apple, stone fruits, citrus zest, smokey minerals, and a slight herbaceous tinge. Light body. On the palate, the fruit seems somewhat muted yet is livened by the acidity, which gives the impression of zesty, citrus-tinged minerals. As it warms in glass, a note of onion skin and a touch of caramel apple becomes discernible on the moderate close (although by no means sweet; almost slightly oxidized in character). Not sure where this is headed, but seems to be drinking nicely right now at a cooler temperature.
Quick commentary: Saved 3/4 of the bottle. On day 2 the acidity really takes over and the fruit seems to dull. Not my favorite, but judging by the positive notes below this could have been an off bottle or simply closed. Best part was the nose on the first night, very nice in how it evolved with air.

This bottle was consumed with less decant time and also I had less to try, as we spread it over 8 people. Also seemed to possess a smokiness to the aromatic tonight that I had not picked up previously. Showed the same lithe balance and finesse and was enjoyabe, just could not track the wine over time as easy as the previous one.

Drinking French With Todd French, P Robert and The Gang (Frenchie's House): I brought this wine to the gathering. This was the 2nd bottle I have drank and I very much enjoyed the wine even more this time. The first bottle went to dinner with me and was consumed over 2 hours, much like this wine. However, the difference this time in addressing this bottle was that I was very impressed with the weight, which was elegant, lithe with perfect pitch. There was some pineapple, some tropical notes if you will, but also a really lovely dried pear note that along with the minerality closed the finish. Between the pear and the zip from the lime flavors, this was really satisfying. And, to any oak intrusion, not any I could tell. Maybe time to see if Envoyer still has one left, as this was just great. Awesome.

As with the 2008 Sauzet Combettes last month, aeration was key. So to with this wine, as that air really unwrapped the profile. Aside from this tip, as I start to really appreciate Puligny, I still lack a reference point: what is the standard bearer for value 1er, for top end 1er....I need more time to form a baseline to really appreciate when a nice one comes along. I make this remark as a stage for the Champ Canet here, which I thought was excellent. It started off a bit tight, lean, with no decant and I drew it from the cellar, placed it in the fridge to get it a little colder before I took it to dinner. As the wine warmed through the meal, some white blossom on the aromatics but the palate, really just terrific: a big presence of green apple, white peach, honeyed edges and even at room temp at the end of my meal, enjoyed with risotto, no heat and great balance. A lovely wine, with a good dose of lime and citrus acidity, a wine I will buy again and age further.

Drank with friends at a dinner of chicken and artichokes. Wonderful complexity, flavors of pear and apple, with some citrus overtones. This is a classic white burgundy.

this wine totally outclassed fevre's champs gain from the same vintage, nose was reticent at first but came forward after 30 minutes, the palate was really big and dense and with loads of fruit and perfume and i don't know what... a kaleidoscope of a wine, if this doesn't premox i imagine it to be blockbuster in ten years when it all tones down just a bit, nonetheless a fantastic drink today if you are ok with big

Very acidic and mineral which I found overwhelmed my search for balancing fruit. Not up to Sauzet standards for me. Not sure time will improve if fruit lacking now.

Blassgelb.
Leichte Röstnoten,Birnen,Ananas,heller Pfirsich,leicht Akazienhonig,aber auch einen Hauch rauchig,kalkig.
Definiert,frisch,recht trocken,knackig.
Im Gleichgewicht mit der Säure.
2.Tag cremiger in der Textur, runder, fruchtiger, saftig, weniger trocken.
Mittellanger cremiger ,gelbfruchtiger Abgang.
Kann gut noch liegen, ist aber auch jetzt schon sehr trinkanimierend.
Braucht einfach viel Luft.Zeigt am zweiten Tag um einiges mehr an Facetten.
