this wine is showing gorgeous on this chilly jan. night in san antonio....opened it to accompany some broiled eggplant /w/ a pomodoro sauce...the tannins are soft and giving...the fruit-sun-dried cherries...the harmony of italy is here...this is why i love italy...this wine has brought me back to have an affair /w/ this country again....

The nose is quite unusual because of a lemon zest component I detect. But it also displays more traditional notes of oak, blackberry, cloves, spice and leather. Very modern but attractive. The palate is explosive with black cherry, mocha and toasted oak, but is cut short by the powerful tannins. This wine is loaded with tannic backbone and is still very young. I think in 5 or so years the tannins will resolve and what will evolve is one very fine wine that might suprise a lot of people. This wine has a story yet to tell.

O - rubinröd m begynnande tegelkant D - härlig doft av körsbär, rök, tobak, tomatpuré, saltlakrits, jord, kryddnejlika S - smaken infriar inte doften helt, körsbär, oregano o andra örter, ekfat, kärnbitter, fin lite örtbesk avslutning, sv vinbär, mandelmassa Vinet känns ännu ungt och alla delar är inte integrerade. Märkbart hur Sangiovesemarkörerna helt dominerar vid öppnandet med tepåsetanniner o allt men med lite luftning kryper cab sauv fram. Välgjort om än i en ogynnsam fas. 8p

Deep ruby color. Funky, dusty nose with elements of dry herb and sweet black raspberries. Medium bodied on the palate but thin and a touch raisined. Update: after 24 hours in a .375 in the wine fridge this has come together a bit more, particularly on the palate. Upping the rating a couple of points.

Tasted at the winery. Garnet color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of lovely florals, black cherries, black berries. Flavors of black berries and a bit of Bing cherry. Medium to vibrant acidity, medium to firm tannins, Medium body. Drink or hold. 70% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc.
