Still holds pretty well, but is probably at the very top of its 'drinking window'. Fruit and aroma (honey, lavender, and lichee) are still present but as you might expect from a 30 year old wine - softened and mellowed down by age. Color is bright amber-amberish. A bit too sweet for my taste.

Another Wine Slog Across France; 11/2/2019-11/13/2019 (Paris, Alsace, Burgundy, Encore Paris): Half bottle. Tulip/light golden color, perfectly clear. Subdued florality, honey, and a beacon of apricot fruit. Medium weight. Pure, focused, lively, moderately sweet, and exceptionally well balanced. It has both kept and ameliorated its varietal character and blossomed into an incredible dessert wine. Bravo, Trimbach, for 2 exceptional 30+ year old late harvest wines today.

Spring Swing Through France-Random Wines Tasted or Imbibed; 4/14/2018-4/25/2018 (Burgundy, Alsace, Paris): Golden with perfect clarity. Oh my, what aromatics! Honey, perfume, apricot, and just enough lychee to make you think of Gewurztraminer. Gorgeous balance with surprisingly strong acidity for the year and the varietal. Medium weight, moderate sweetness, seamless feel, and much more intensity than the Kientzler SGN last night. Extraordinary late harvest wine which could drink well for another 5 years. Bravo!!

Clear, medium+ intense golden core with pale rim, developed
Nose is clean, medium+ intense aromas of rose, rose petals, honey, orange, sweet red apples, grapefruit, developes
Palate is sweet, medium acidity, medium+ alcohol, pronounced body and flavour intensity, high dry-extract with aromas of rose, rose petals, quite perfumed, honey, grape and some ripe stonefruit, baked apples, long finish
Well balanced, but in my opinion it lacks acidity, but that is a common domoniator with gewurztraminer in my opinion. Solid concentration, medium+ complex, the finish is long. Drink now and next 10 years, very good quality, 90-91p

Very fine indeed. Beautiful copper colour with a nice sheen and luminous quality. Drinking well. Almond, macadamia, toffee, lychee, apricot, pineapple with a noticeably off dry finish. Overall splendid. I get the impression this is probably in the middle of its drinking window.

Mener det var i overkant 70g restsukker i denne, så perfekt til gode desserter. Virkelig gylden farge - honning, melon og tropisk frukt. Fantastisk syre som balanserer vinen fortsatt. Imponert! 94p.

Alsace tasting at home - Dark golden color. Honeyed aromas with complex tropical fruit. This wine is so well balanced with underlying acidity. So sweet and unctuous on the nose and then almost bracing when tasted. Wonderful stuff.

Apricots, raisins, botrytis, a lot of sweetness. Not really fat and sticky but elegant, even though it lacks a bit in acidity. Overall a lovely wine and still not showing age.

Opened my 2nd and last bottle of this at an offline when Haggis came into town. I liked this better than when I last had it in 2005. This had good depth with notes of spiced pears, apricot and honey. Not as sweet as the 2001 Sauternes we drank next to it. 93 points.

Haggis returns to town! (Cafe Orchid, Chicago): From 750ml. Deep honeyed color. Typical Gewurz nose with oosberry and lychee, but with a honeyed edge; also burnt sugar and baked stone fruit notes. Rich fruit on the attack, with tropical fruit, lychee, honey and melon flavors. Long finish. 94-95 pts.

December Birthdays (My Little Spanish Place): Lovely. Not quite as good as the last bottle I had perhaps, but nevertheless as good a Gewurztraminer as I have ever had. It had a wonderful nose of telltale lychee creme and spice notes backed up with botrytised aromas of apricots, honeysuckle, sweet lemons and honey. The palate was rich and creamily textured, with more hints of lychee on the attack followed by a layer of sweet lemons, dried apricots and nectarines on the midpalate and then dried flowers and a beautiful lick of spice at the finish. Acidity was not the highest given the varietal, but this was nevertheless impecably balance, almost elegant. A really delicious wine.

Alex's Birthday BBQ (Alex's place): Excellent. My WOTN. This was a brilliantly balanced and absolutely delicious bottle of wine - about as good a Gewurztraminer as I have ever had. It opened with a magnificent nose - deep, mature, yet so charming, with dollops of lychee creme, white flowers and peach. If anything, the palate was even better. Sweet, honeyed, with lots of nectar and flower notes, along with candied pineapples and burnt sugar. Quite typical noble wine notes in some aspects, but there was not mistaking it past the attack and into the mid-palate, where the wine filled the mouth with lychees galore, hints of dried mango, honeydew, and lovely waves of Gewurz spice and mouthfilling perfume at the finish, all perfectly integrated into a hedonistic whole. Sweet, rich, yet so impeccably balanced that I could drink glass afater glass of this. A brilliant wine.

This was the second of two bottles I purchased at Trimbach in Ribeauville in 1996. Both were incredible. Drank this with nephew ATBridge and three other friends after a long and vin rouge-accompanied dinner. A great conclusion. Nose and palate consistent: apricots and tropical fruit galore surrounded by spices and baked brown sugar. I love Alsatian dessert wines and think they are the most complex and interesting there are. This one will be hard to beat.

Not as concentrated and deep as I had expected. Clearly not on par with the 1990 Trimbach Riesling Cuvee Frederich Emile SGN that I bought at the same time. Notes of luscious pear and apricot. Semisweet but definitely in the dessert wine category. Good balance and still fresh. No petrol nuances that I could detect. Very fine but not a classic. 92 points.

Drinking beautifully. Still plenty of acid to balance out the rich SGN flavors.
