Decated for two hours with surprisingly zero sediment. Last bottle of five, based on this bottle, still several more years of life left. This bottle was personally cellared for 13 plus years, showed excellent balance, ripe cherries dominate the palate with hints of cassis, plum and a good dose of minerals on the finish, there was a touch of austerity that actually added to the complexity of this Barolo. Paired extremely well with an assortment of Italian cold cuts, cheeses and olives.

Deep gone it in color with breaking edge. Nose of plums, dark cherries, and hint of earth. Taste of dark cherries, plums, tobacco, and hint of mushrooms. Rather rustic. I still have some tannins but drinking nicely. Opened up with aeration. Drink over the next 3 to 5 years.

Decanted 1+ hours, Smokey earthy nose, fruit was a bit muted on the palate, hints of plums, dark cherry, some tartness on the finish, still a bit tannic. Personally cellared 11+ years.

Decated 1.5 hours, loads of balanced red fruit, soft tannins, cherry, plum, currants some earth. This bottle was soft, elegant and in an excellent spot for consuming right now.

second of two bottles that i brought to a central jersey ct offline tasting in manhattan. shared with pat, doubled, mc2 and others at the table. so much good wine and good food on the table that it is difficult to give the wine the attention that it deserves. the wine seems to be in a good place right now. aromatic nose, ample stone fruit, soft tannins, medium mouth feel and finish. heavy sedimentation on the last pour. although the wine is vibrant, i believe that it will be best enjoyed over the next few years. i purchased this wine at what was probably a close out price in 2011. i recall tasting it in the store that day. it has certainly developed significantly over that period of time. enjoyed by all. glad to have shared this experience.

Very dry with loads of tannins especially on the finish. Lots of wood up front. Notes of wood more than fruit or flower. Oak followed by cedar. A bit of alcohol on the nose. Hard to discern where this is going. Still very tight even after 90 minutes. I wouldn't predict any miracles with further aging.

Previous bottle back in November was horribly corked, making this one seem all the more spectacular. Attractive aromas of ripe berries, sous bois and flowers on the nose. Utterly amazing on the palate, showing incredible balance. Luscious notes of ripe cherries, chocolate and a subtle hint of spice gently caress the palate. The tannins are completely resolved now, making this as smooth as silk. Long and so beautifully polished on the fruit- and mineral-tinged finish. Not a blockbuster, but so elegant, yet fully satisfying. What a delight this was with our ribeye steaks. 50+5+12+18+8=93

Noticeably better than my last bottle almost a year ago. Starting to take on the look of a mature Barolo. Now a slightly translucent garnet that lightens around the edge. The nose offers attractive earth and floral aromas. Full-bodied and now showing excellent depth and intensity on the mid-palate. Lots of cherry flavor along with notes of chocolate and licorice that persist nicely into the long, mineral-tinged finish. The tannins have softened beautifully. Very balanced and refined. Drinking well now, this should continue to improve over the next 2-3 years. 50+5+12+16+8=91

What a beautiful Nebbiolo nose of cherries, prunes, earth and spice. Full-bodied, this is very well balanced for a young Barolo. Lots of black cherry, chocolate and licorice flavor here. The medium+ finish is very complex and loaded with fruit and minerality. A very elegant and refined Barolo - more from the "old school" rather than a blockbuster. Maybe I expected a little too much from this, having recently had a 2005 Scavino Carobric and a 2005 Giovanni Corino - both of which are bigger wines made in the modern style. 50+5+13+14+8=90

Decanted 3 hrs, loads of dark berries, plums, tea and graphite in the nose. The dark berries, plums and minerals continue on the palate, very rich, excellent structure and still plenty of tannins. More forward than the 2004, but still plenty of room for improvment. 92+ best after 2015!

a very approachable barolo ... decanted about 90 minutes. a great floral bouquet with hints of black tea in the background. a very nice medley of fruit and spice on the palate with a back end black tea component. an impressive lingering finish ... an excellent wine now with the potential to be outstanding.

Again this is very young. Amazing how well Italian wine ages. Get a bit of alcohol here. Good fruit. Would like to see it again in 10 years.

Strong note of Worcestershire on both the nose and palate. Probably corked. Barely drinkable. As they say in Italia, "Peccato".
