Dark berries and licorice in the bouquet as well as on the palate. Spiciness as well. The tannin still offers a pleasant bite. Really beautiful wine which is at its peak now and the next year or so.

deep color and fairly shy but correct nose I double decanted and it was a well structured wine without enough fruit or savoriness to be great. in fact it was a bit soupy but after 2 + hours fruit returned with a burning intensity
this rallied well tonight.... needs more time

Upfront, I am a huge fan of Ribera del duero and this wine is a very solid representative example. Deep Ruby red and moving away from the rim, this wine is drinking ideally right now. A powerful and complex nose of dark fruit, currant, plum with a deep note of earth and a touch of leather. Nothing spicy at this point in time. The joy is in the taste-Well balanced tart acid, softening tannins and a lingering finish of lush fruit and dust, again the earthiness sticks out. The wine opened up and gained complexity on day two.

Loved it, but higher rating would have been given with the exception of the finish. You hear about a wine's entry, middle and finish, and this wine was a roller coaster in that regard. The entry Southern Rhone, the middle was almost like California Cabernet and the finish was acidic and screaming for food. Would love to have more.

Very nice dark ruby. Opaque. Lovely nose of minerals, red fruit and vanilla. Raspberries. Nice complexity. Excellent palate. Light on its feet with fine red fruit profile. Took time to open, but excellent drinker once it did very fine. 4-13-15-8: 90/100.

Spanish Temperanillo (SF Wine Trading Company): Medium dark center. Cedar/pine nose. Full, ripe black fruit entry, then brambly, high acidity to follow. Finish is attenuated by the acidity and drying wood tannins.

totally fresh black berry and cherry as I decanted it. I served it 2 hours later next to a Vega Sicilia Valbuena of same vintage and it just seemed closed and dumb. I think this will be delicious but was just not ready to play today but this will be at least very good to outstanding in a couple of years

I opened this for our 5/24/13 grilled steak dinner party. It had a very expressive “old world” bouquet of smoke, mocha, cranberry, blackberry, licorice and spice aromas. The palate was deep and layered with flavors of mocha, blackberry, cranberry, spice, mineral and char. 91+

Color is deep red with a nose of black cherries, sweet currant, forest floor, and a tinge of new oak vanillin. Entry is excellently firm and balanced with nice tannins, body is lighter than necessary with an exciting light to medium finish. This wine is still young but with a proper decant and some patience it awakes in the glass to perform solidly.

Expressive nose with red and blue berries, soil, clay, spices, incense, tobacco and oak. Possibly some brett as well. Well structured, surprisingly elegant with medium body and high acidity. Ripe tannins. Great wine for those who value elegance in their Ribs.

Dark to the core. Dark fruits, toast, crushed rocks and vanilla. The taste is powerful, rich but still in a good balance. Tannin present and it needs time to mellow out. Solid wine!

Overwhelming smell of black fruits (blackberries and cherries), subtile wood. Wine is still very closed, after decanting the wine is getting better every hour. I would say leave it in your cellar and try it over 5 years. After 4 hours you 've got a nice subtile ribera with enough complexity.

I thought this was fantastic! Big complex blend with initial rich Cab and Merlot fruit exploding in the mouth followed by a strong and dry Tempranillo finish. Tannins are VERY prominent in this right now, and I agree with the posters below that it needs some time or a good decant.

Maybe and hopefully the wine is in a dumb phase at the moment. It doesn't offer the wow! feeling I had with the 2004. I drank it over two days. It is medium to full bodied and has a lot of acidity, tannin and mostly black fruits. After being popped and poured on day 1, I hoped it would show better the second day, but it didn't. Don't misunderstand; not a bad wine. Just not what I expected. I will save my last two bottles for at least another 3 years.
