Thursday, October 03, 2002 Slight bricking on the rim. Delivers a nose of cassis, raspberry, cedar, tobo and vanilla. All in all a rather generous bouquet. The palate, however, was rather disappointing, what with its green pepper notes and a somewhat oily mouthfeel. Yet it did offer some earth, spice (perhaps cinnamon?) flavors. No discernable specific fruits. Not a particularly enjoyable bottle. A little sediment in the bottle. 1. Originally, I believe, this was the value Bordeaux for the Lafite-Rothschild family that they added in the seventies. Although the label indicates the wine is made under the Administration of Lafite-Rothschild, I thought the Rothschild family sold this vineyard earlier in the mid-eighties. What if any connection does the Rothschild family still have with this winery? 2. What would cause the unpleasant oily mouthfeel?

Smoldering nose of embers, cherries, and tobacco. Quite silky, and totally intact. Elegant and graceful. Lengthy finish with apple nuances.

Was not too old; needed to open up but when it did it still had strength and good finish; very nice wine

Good condition, not flawed, just simple. Good fruit up front, nice balance, not much finish.
