- Garnet color - Vanilla oak dominates, sweetness, concentrated black current, some herby menthol accents. Neither elegant nor challenging, but fun in some ways nonetheless.

RUSSK SpTasting at TW PP. MY WOTN. Like the 2005 Villacruces. Lots of fruit, alcohol. Less tannin. Slightly bitter in the finish. Nose not remarkable. silky tannins

Purple colour. On the nose there is plenty of fruit but also a large helping of oak. On tasting my immediate fear is that there will be splinters on my tongue. Drinking this is like licking a plank that has been soaked in ribena for a period. This wine is pretty poor. The score reflects the (little) hope that the oak will integrate. This wine has a rarity value in Spain and previous vintages have been very good- though I have always found it a bit full-on. Something has gone seriously wrong with this vintage.

Wine Education Service - Ribera del Duero (LSE): Blackcurrant hue, opaque. Youthful nose, sweetish. Very sweet attack, tasting alcoholic, reasonable balance, spicy, savoury, very long, warrants keeping up to four years.
