tasted with the '75, this won over that wine by a nose, the two wines were very similar... i enjoyed this, still a touch of fruit left but the secondary flavors weren't as pleasing as one would hope, a little astringent, still a bunch of acid (which is good if backed up, which this wasn't as much as i hoped)... enjoyable but i won't be hunting for more of this

1976 California Cabernet Blindtasting (Tom's House, Palo Alto, CA): Group's #5 (my #1) – 67 pts.; 1, 1, 3, 0 – big meaty nose with plum and a touch of pepper; tasty, rich, elegant, with appealing acid and depth of tertiary flavor; structured, with firm tannins at end; long finish

This wine is far from dead. Being a '76er, I'm biased when it comes to the vintage, but this was quite enjoyable. No contemporaneous notes taken.
