  • Decanted. Now 2.5h after decant. Nice petrol aromas with tart apples, some minerals, and mild flowers. Palate w tart and baked apples, petrol, nice minerals, a hint of flowers. Light+ body w a mildly waxy mouthfeel. Nice, mouthwatering acids. Short finish. This is pretty tasty but lacks complexity, which is what I was wishing for. Definitely a wine to drink now as I think it's on its downward slope. 88+

  • PnP chilled. Med straw color. Clear, slight funk nose which blew off quickly. Beautiful wine and not over the top. Classic German QbA Kabinett, just a touch of sweetness. Moderate fruit up front which expanded as time went on and warmed up. After two hours, huge acidity and fruit finished that lasted long. Don/Julie's bottle.

  • An ex- cellar release. And it has certainly kept itself together nicely. But is is not a Wehlener or Urziger and not in the Mosel producer A- league. Very delicate doses of white flowers, white peach, orange zest and a hint of white pepper. Light as air and not a full finish.

  • Palo santo, dried sage. preserved quince, preserved apples, preserved lemon, blue cheese and petrol on the nose. High intensity of aromas. The palate adds white pepper, wet stone and malt, with a LOT of the palo santo and dried sage on the finish. Medium + intensity of flavors. Only a medium finish, I wish it was a little longer. A few solids at the bottom, as another reviewer noted. Apparently 2000 was a difficult vintage in the Mosel; and I think that explains the finish.

Off dry with a medium body, medium acid and only 8% alcohol. This is either at peak or just past. I'm going to go with just past, even though it's still quite delicious right now. If you have this, definitely drink it now.

  • Beautiful aged Riesling purchased ex-cellar last year. A better more complete bottle than before. Really nice. Almost more Spatlese in style a la Merkelbach. Lovely fruit and killer nose. Enjoyed with fried Chinese turkey. Chef's kiss. Loved it.

  • well aged ,mature wines can be intriguing. lemon nose. long middle. a little petrol finish. dry even for kabinett. love the low alcohol. some solids. suggest a decant... the cork did break. mosel would always have been a choice for a desert island.

  • my first thought was, "this can't be 23 years old". opens with aromatics of white flowers and a touch of petrol (petrol blew off quickly). light straw yellow in color with little to no oxidation. ripe apple, white peach, a touch of minerality, and adequate acidity. super enjoyable to drink. hard to believe this was a difficult year.

  • Decanted for 1h then back into bottle. Now 8.5 h after decant. Lovely aromas of mildly honeyed apples, minerals, herbs, and citrus pith. Palate w tart and baked apples, some herbs, and nice minerals. Nice acids on medium body. Good but not great concentration - somewhat diluted actually. Somewhat short finish. The nose is really lovely but the palate isn't on the same level. However, given the difficult vintage, this is still good.

  • From a problematic vintage, this was at a great price of $35 for 23 years on it.

Nose shows some white peach, a hint of funk, little bit of white flowers and minerals. Palate is quite nice, medium bodied with nice acidity. Yellow apples, petrol/gasoline, citrus zip, barely ripe pineapple. Finish is a bit short and a little watery, but shows citrus slathered over minerals.

A bit thin initially, this gained weight with exposure to air. Doesn't have the depth or concentration of better vintages. Still a nice drink despite its comparative flaws. 89-90.

  • Lemon, petrol and orange citrus on the nose. Palate is expansive and lush, with subtle supporting acidity and a stronger orange citrus note and perhaps some ripe yellow apple. Very nice wine; enjoyable and easy to drink at 8% abv.

  • Very good Riesling from Mosel and unlike most Kabinetts that I’ve tasted (rounder and longer in finish), perhaps on account of its age.
Medium lemon in glass. Complex nose of lemon, orange peel, orange creamsicle, honey, touch of kerosene.
Palate was is very round. Med body, med+ to high acidity, med+ length. An off-dry sweetness at just the right level to avoid any cloying (not even close). Wish I could purchase this wine for the cellar they appear to be long gone. Drink now or continue to hold if you have them (or sell them to me!).

  • I had this with Indian food. I've had much success with Indian and riesling parings, but here I feel it was a bit of a mismatch, with the food overpowering the riesling. I found this a bit oxidative in the first 30 minutes (I know, I should have probably let it open up a bit). As the meal progressed, the wine opened and rounded and it was a pretty wine . I'll drink my next one on its own, to give this wine its proper attention.

  • Wow! This is like a clementine angel. Full of citrus, light as a feather, it floats on the palate. Excellent. So light.
