Sour cherry and plum, very tart and acidic. Got a little bit muted after being open a couple of hours, but still sharp. Good color, mouth feel and pretty good finish. Just out of balance on the one axis.

Somewhat muted, tart nose that seems like it might be a tad hot, however the wine on the palate is very nice. Dominated by cherries and plums with a smooth polished finish although slightly short which keeps the wine from being rated higher

Scent of dominated by sour cherry; with muted green herbs, slight forest floor / wet leaves as secondary. Initial taste is all soft fruits: cherry, stone fruit; follow has some cola and spice elements. Medium-long finish with very, very soft tannins. Not drinking as well than last review in '09; if anything, seems to be fading fast.

Really enjoyable right now. Brighter red fruit and good acidity. After some time in the glass, this had some nice caramel and secondary notes. Nice baking spice and good red fruit on the palate. A little bit of warmth on the finish. Good, solid New World Pinot Noir

popped and poured after the Leras. med ruby color. nose shows cherry fruit with more earthy/meaty tones that the Leras. palate shows much brighter cherry fruit no doubt from the balancing bright acids, and has much lighter mid-palate weight and less length. finish pleasant enough.

Vibrant candied cherries with some cola and vanilla on the finish. Medium bodied. Could use more time. Mouthfeel is somewhat one dimensional right now.

This wine was just so-so. Simple red fruits on the nose, somewhat lacking in structure. Possibly a little over acidic. What complexity there was on the nose completely fell apart in the glass after just 5 minutes or so leaving behind a tart under-ripe cherry aroma. This one's a pass for me.

Didn't enjoy as much as the last Papapietro (Leras) we had. A bit more straightforward fruit without as much underlying earthiness/forest funk/whatever you want to call it. Some green peppers flavors but overall still very good. Drank over a relatively short dinner, so didn't have much air time. Wife preferred this to the Leras, so to each his own.

We thought we lost this bottle - some wine had leaked out the cork so we thought we might as well give it a try. I was really, really good, well balanced with a lot of forward fruit. Was even thinking about giving it a higher rating.

Dinner at Fogo de Chao, Washington D.C. 14.5% alcohol
Was surprised at the alcohol % since it wasn't noticeable at all during dinner. A fruity cherry and dried red fruit profile, very similar to other sonoma pinots. Smooth, not oaky at all, with a short to medium finish. Either it was missing secondary characteristics or it was overmatched by the dinner.

California Wine Tasting Adventure; 8/2/2010-8/6/2010 (Napa, Sonoma): Tasted at winery. I enjoyed the more refined, subtle style of the Papapietro Perry Pinot Noirs. Nice bright red fruits on the nose. Cranberry, cherry and some brambly red berries. Nice acidity on the palate. Everything well balanced. Slightly clipped finish.

Big baking spice and strawberry on the nose. Consistent and fruit-forward on the palate. A lot of spice on the finish. Not a lot of backbone but an enjoyable easy drinker.

Fragrant nose, spice dominated with earth, dark cherry & cola notes. Flavors burned off a bit more than I would have liked after the bottle was open for an hour. Pop & drink!

Not as good as when we tasted in at the tasting room north of Healdsburg. Bing and darker red cherry on the nose and palate. We had it with BBQ/smoked brisket, pulled pork and chicken. If the wine would have had a little more toast to it, it would have been outstanding.

Potential to improve. Tasted this bottle early, not long after release. Drink 2010-2014. Heavy fruit on the nose, ripe black cherry & blackberry, rose petal on nose and palate, medium-short finish.

Showed well against other pinots at friendly tasting competition. More mellow now than last year with a bit more earth and less heat.
