It is a Chianti Classico, but not a Chianti Classico. I drank it to see if it was still good because I happened to have a back vintage available, but it was not bad at all. The acidity characteristic of Sangiovese had become mild, and the balance was good. I think I finished it before I woke up, so I would like to drink it a little slower next time.

Still showing well with quite a bit a life. Nice developed color in the glass with earthy aromas of rose, raspberry, cherry, and boysenberry. Palate is soft with developed red fruit flavors.
Drink now or hold for another 2-3 years. Nothing particularly complex about this, but surprisingly still intact and expressive. A good wine!

just read my tasting note from 8 years ago with longing , and disgust. as for the wine, it performed admirably tonight. very nice red fruited bouquet, followed by round red and dark fruits all in harmonious balance with tannins framing but mostly resolved. a great value

This has developed into a very good wine. Too bad it's my last bottle. Tannins are well integrated, good acidity, and medium to long finish. Fruit and oak are very present.

Deep garnet. My last bottle of these and definitely the best showing. Lovely bouquet wafting out of the glass showing dark plums, cherries and sous-bois. Complex palate with lively acidity darting in and out of a graphite, cherry profile with some resinous back notes that combine to give a lovely final. This feels very complete at the moment and I feel a bit sad that I've gone through my other bottles now - based on the showing tonight this could easily make another 3 years at least.

Needs at least 1-2 hours to really open. Anybody pop & pouring this wine is wasting it, IMHO. Decanted two hours and it opened up beautifully with a multi layered complexity and smooth construction. Still young, but coming along well.

Drinking beautifully. Decanted 1 hour. Sweet musky nose. Dark blackberry and plum fruits with a hint of anise and tobacco leaf. Ultra silky smooth with an engaging long finish, 15 sec+. Had with French cut lamb chops for Father's Day. Only bottle, wish I had more.

Opened 1 hour in advance. Bright ruby. Deep bouquet of macerated black cherries, a whiff of sous-bois. Round and supple on entry, builds to a packed mid-palate of dark fruit, Christmas spice and licorice. Acidity rings out through a good lengthed, balanced final with a faint skein of fine drying tannins.
This has come on another step over previous bottles and is in a very good place just now. Nice balance, excellent with food or on its own, and very accesible. What's not to like?

A bit better than I expected based on some of the less-than-stellar CT scores. Has a very pretty nose of ripe berries, leather, spice and vanilla. Medium-to-full bodied and loaded with ripe, dark fruit flavors. The finish shows respectable length, along with fine, velvety tannins and notes of coffee and citrus. Just a little oaky on the finish, but very polished and refined. Might be even better in another year or two once the oak has more fully integrated. Wish I had bought more of this, but alas my only bottle. 90+ 50+5+12+15+8=90

open and engaging. Subtle cherry and plum. Resolved tannins that are extremely delicate and soft ( I see notes of hard astrigint tannins in other notes, but hten again, me loves me some tannins). Nice long creamy finish. Hint of juniper and oregano and other earthy notes. Some floral notes that make me think of violets. Overall, a very enjoyable wine and worth the price of admission in my humble opinion. Have not had other vintages but if they are all this good, I will have to pick up some more.

Popped and poured. Notes from memory. Drank this outside with friends over summer salads and roast chicken with pesto. This was considerably better than I remember previous bottles being. Dancing with fruit, very open and engaging. The oak seems to have softened a bit and now brings complexity without being overdone. Nice summer bbq wine.

Starting to soften up a little. Vinturi by the glass and it benefited from it. Excellent structure and bold fruit. I'm looking forward to coming back to this in 3 or 4 years.

Popped and poured. Medium red. Fragrant cherry bouquet. Round and brisk on the attack, quickly giving way to a pleasant mid-palate of cherry laden fruit. Strongly acidic and high toned with some drying tannins rounding out the moderate final. Liked this better tonight than I recall liking earlier bottles.

This was almost undrinkable on the first night, just oak and not much else. On the second and third night, it however opened up nicely into spicy toscan blend with some cherries, hints of cassis and juicy spicy finish. Creamy and quite modern though. Needs a very long decant or few more years.

Very disappointed compared to 2006. Insignificant nose, tannic and earthy makes it come off as too dry and astringent. Opens up a little with time but still doesn't make enough of an impression.

Opened by accident as I thought this was an early drinker. Boy was I wrong. Black, dry and unyielding. Opened after a couple of hours to reveal some secondary notes of scorched earth, tobacco and licorice. Not tannic but structured, with high acidity.

nose - celery, slight manure smell, and with time some spiciness mouth - at first very tight. extremely tight and impossibly to rate. With a few hours of air i can start to sense big black fruit. i can see the long term potential though its not anywhere ready to drink. try again in Hillary Clinton's 2nd term. Or decants for hours

Pop & pour ready wine, is very old world with its rich, earthy (that of dirt), violet and a hint of black licorice aromas; the pour is of a tannic (legs from the drops even) yet balanced deep purple. It’s not over the top in any area and has an easy departure that is a deep framework of lush dark fruit. We drank over several days with just leaving the cork in and it suffered no perceptible ill or beneficial effects. Enjoyed with a flank steak and vegetables and alone.

Very dark purply black in the glass. This is young but seems ready with about 30 minutes of air. Well made, with dark berries, a smoky note, and a dash of vanilla on the back end. Stylistically, this is squarely in the modern camp and, to my palate, the merlot & cab overshadow the sangiovese. Still, an enjoyable bottle for ~$22.

Very good - the taste profile is violets and cedar. The texture was nice, but definitely not overly luxurious. La Massa is very much in balance, but I don't see a significant benefit ahead from aging long term.
Good wine but that last fact is somewhat disappointing since the sangiovese juice in 2006 and prior apparently would have gone in to the Giorgio Primo. Still think most sangiovese at low-to-mid price points isn't built for the long haul.

Have 6 of these and wanted to see what it was like. Drank first half and returned to the second 2 days later. Notes from second tasting. Bright red cherry aspect. Nose is closed at cooler temperatures but warmed to show cherries, vanilla and some chocolate. On the palate the immediate impression is this is tight, and acidic with fine tannins. There is a short to medium final and although the palate is showing some interesting cherry and cinnamon notes across the mid-palate and the final, while short is intense and savoury, this is simply wound up too tight at the moment. My guess is these will be drinking nicely from 2011. Score will improve but for today 50+5+11+14+7=87.
