Rich, deep colour. From opening was already very expressive. Rich dark berries and plums, toasted coffee and oak. Really very well balanced tannins, surprisingly round for St Julien

Pop and pour at lunch. Corked and took home, notes from about 10 hrs open, with lots of walking in between. On the nose: graphite, blackberry, soft cedar toast, spice. On the palate: solid acidity, blackberry, charcoal, cedar, sweet blueberry, lovely tannin.
Hmph. Oxidized on Day 2 open. Drink up.

This has settled down a bit, but is very finicky. Decanted. Medium weight with focused fruits and some structure. Did not do as well the second day, actually began to oxidize a bit. I think this could benefit from another couple of years in the bottle and/or a good long decant. Upping my score.

This wine is hitting its stride. After 20 minutes in the decanter, the nose offers notes of cranberry, cassis, red meat, soy sauce, liquid smoke, and blood.
It stimulates the palate, pairing delicious blue fruit with an excellent acidity that leaves the tongue tingling.
Good juice. 93 points.

The nose smelt of vanilla, my wife said strawberries and cream. Quite soft on the palate initially, the oak providing the vanilla backdrop to dark fruits. Medium acid but not obtrusive. Good QPR.

A disappointment. Was expecting a lot more. Acidity predominates. Positive: tastes young and fresh. Negative: oak, tannins, even the fruit is obscured: lack of integration. At 12 years out, I don't know if some more bottle age will rectify the situation. I have three more bottles. Advice appreciated.
First MG of a commercial delivery in 2021-02 (OWC of 6 plus one = last 7 bottles in stock). Finished over 4 hours. This is really good stuff. Only very little sediment. Cork in almost new condition. Fresh and with enough texture and structure. No heat. Compared to the rival of 'La Croix de Beaucaillou' 2008, this is by far of another/better quality. PQR fine (72 €/MG in 2021).

A soft wine in which the oak is completely integrated. The acidity is rather high for a Bordeaux, together with the fruit delivering freshness. It performed better than expected. On the second day it suffered from fatigue and was much less appealing.

out of half bottle. Still young and very primary on nose. Loads of black fruits and new luxurious oak, but open for business. Mutilfaceted on nose and palate and just super delicious. Can keep for long time but very drinkable now and a go to for value for money Bordeaux

Deep-colored Bordeaux. Decanted for half hour and drank with dinner over next hour. Substantial tannins, dark fruits, long finish and food-friendly. Not as good as other vintages of Clos du Marquis, but an enjoyable 2008 Bordeaux. By the same winemakers at Leoville Las Cases, but from a separate St. Julien plot, and not a "second wine."

Very dark purple, almost black. This wine opens up nicely over 30 minutes with plum, earth and and currant. The fruit is surprisingly fresh and lively with nice balance but a shorter finish. I am not sure if it will improve but this wine will definitely drink well for another 5-7 years.

Drank this with my best friend from the University days today at Yummy Recipes.
Closed at first and opened up gradually after 30 minutes in the decanter. Purplish in colour in berries and toffee, leather and lacquer on the nose and palate.
Not entirely integrated at this point of time but the wine improved over time. Should have another 5 to 10 years ahead for this wine.

Emirates flight. Had this only hours after the 2006 and slightly preferred the younger wine with the more crunchy fruit. Very pleasant and nice Bordeaux but just like the 06 could do with a bit more concentration on the mid palate. 90-91

Last week I had a delectable and absolutely ready to drink 2008 Malescot St. Exupery, so I though I might have a go with another 2008 Bordeaux. But sadly Clos du Marquis is not ready yet. Not that it is not enjoyable but it needs 3-4 more years to mellow and integrate. It's a good wine with lavish new oak, with ample fruit and generally savoury character, but at the moment it is a little 'unripe'.

Dark garnet core with vibrant hue. Rich fruity notes on the nose, blackcurrant, dark cherry and black berry interwoven with chocolate, toasty oak and touch of pencil lead. Decanted for 2 hours and still tight on first sip, rich fruity palate showing cassis and blackberry. It has firm structure and good acidity. Medium+ finish with soft chewy tannins. Still primary at the moment and needs time.

Still reticent in the nose as well as the mouth. There is good concentrated cassis and beautiful oak in the bouquet as well as almost aromatic flowers. On the palate good cassis as well, good acidity and round and creamy tannin and good bitterness. Overall in this stage it seems to be a little less concentrated than the 2005, but I would love to compare these wines again around 2020. They will definitely show much more by then. 90+ for now.
Half-bottle. We decanted the wine for 20 minutes before we poured the first glass and consumed it over a period of 1.5 hours. It offered cherry, red currant, black currant, blackberry, plum, charcoal, lots of vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee and caramel on the nose. On the palate the wine showed cherry, red currant, black currant, plum, some graphite, vanilla, chocolate and coffee, paired with medium-level tannin, medium-plus acidity, a creamy mouthfeel and very good length. The wine was a little hollow on the midpalate and showed a bit too much oak for my personal taste. A balanced, medium-to light-bodied, fresh, fruity, juicy Bordeaux for drinking now and over the next five to six years.

08 Clos du Marquis is 55% cabernet sauvignon, 41% merlot, 3% cabernet franc, and a dollop of petit verdot. It sees 25% new oak. Its nose is of smoky black fruit and spice. The wine finishes with soft, dark berry flavors. 90-92 Pts

Brought this wine to share with my wine mates over a casual wine lunch today at New Ubin Seafood.
Colour is purple, with shades of brown at the side. Nose is charming with notes of violet, red berries and some toffee.
On the palate the structure is holding up well with ample fruits and tannins in balance. There is some rosewood, vanilla and mocha notes in the body.
Finish is shorter than expected. Had expected more from this wine made by the famous Delon family.
