  • Aerate to decanter, and it ended up sitting about 30 min. Color cherry red with purple hues, medium body. Nose has some nice star anise and black pepper I had not previously noticed, in addition to plum and black raspberry fruit base. This is sweetish on entry, with dark plums, a little fig paste, licorice, and mild earthiness. Acidity rather low, tannins quite soft, short finish. A pleasant everyday drinker that seems pretty consistent. Advertised as one that "really overdelivers" for 8 bucks, but for me it's only slightly ahead of the curve.

  • Sweet cherry and blueberry fruit, with some spice, and soft tannins. Smooth and silky, with a glycerin-like aspect. Decent length. Overall, a simple, pleasant wine, and quite good for the $8 price tag.
