A little light on pepper and fruit, but still very enjoyable. Definitely tastes like a Zinfandel. Was a nice accompaniment to grilled swordfish, vegetables, an spicy Italian chicken sausage.

Deep purple color with a bouquet and flavor of plums and brambles. Overall good balance with a pleasant finish. Much better than I anticipated for the price.

I don't know what WS is thinking, but this is a pretty good zin. Aromatic nose (a bit hot, though) with blueberries, black cherries, raspberries, smoke and pepper; rich, slightly sweet, blue and purple fruit, with pepper, asian spices, and a black, tarry note; sneaky tannins that build though the finish, and pepper and spice at the end. Like all good zins, this needs time to open - it's much, much better after an hour or two in the glass. It didn't hold up very well in the fridge after a day or two, however, as it lost some backbone and felt a bit too sweet, so subtracted a point.

Drank with grilled pepper marinated steak kabobs and the wine paired excellent with great fruit and just perfect acidity to match food. The wine was lite on the peppery finish but the marinade made up for it.

Lighter garnet color. The nose shows plum stew, anise and a hint of honeysuckle. On the palate this wine shows a great balance of fruit and acidity. The fruit is classic Napa Zin with plum leading the way but also some raspberry pepper and vanilla. The finish is medium to long and shows a nice mineral edge to add to the complexity. This had a very nice nose. Fruity (bing cherry/rasberry) without being over the top. Front to back, this was very well balanced with just the right amount of fruit for me. Subtle on the nose but expressive in the mouth. The reason I scored this 89 is because it lacked the spice, i.e. peppery kick, that I love in a Zin. The spice was missing completely, it never appeared even with time to breathe. Nevertheless, this is a wine that might be just right for someone who doesn't like strong Zins as it was completely enjoyable. Paid around 18 dollars.

Decanted for 1.5 hours. Smuckers Rasberry Preserve Jam. I kept thinking about this while smelling and drinking this wine. Very enjoyable, fruity and well balanced. Well worth 16 bucks at WineLibrary.

Very unenjoyable. Young, tart, light. Exhibiting none of the characteristics of a zin. Decanting for an hour-plus allowed it to mellow, in the sense that it flattened out the tartness and left just a hint of sweetness in an otherwise flat mouth feel. Not buying again, even if popped too young.

Agree with Tcosgriff's note. Brambly in character. No rough edges, easy to drink. A very nice value for the price, and something of a surprise for me.
Update: a few hours later, smoother and a bit more complex. Really, really nice for the price

Quite good and it got even better after an evening on the counter under a stopper.

Couldn't agree more with other reviews great zin for the price, slight jam but not overpowering with a hint of pepper.

My 4th bottle, which is definitely improving over time. Seek, buy and drink.

Not as much peppery flavor at the end as some earlier Buehler's, but still a nice Zin.

Very classic big Zin. Very hot right out of the bottle but settled down after 30-45 min. Spicy but jammy, big bold flavor. Great value.

Very smooth finish, not alcoholly at all. Not as jammy as some Zin's, a little more full bodied.
