Always fun to 'disprove' theories... I have long felt that well made NZ Sauvignon (which in general I do not particularly like) keeps really well - and this proves the point. 16 years old and delicious. Dark yellow, mature fruits. Very tasty indeed, and NO sign of oxidation (stelvin....). Lovely.

Pale straw. The complex nose, having feet in both camps of steely and fruit-driven styles this time, gives gooseberry, peach, green grass, grapefruit, spicy fresh black pepper. More supple than typical for this house, the acid spine is delicate in a very round mouth feel and a rich texture. Flavors favor lemon, grapefruit and tangerine, but there's peach, green pea and asparagus lurking too. Perfect partner to our dinner of chicken/spinach/leek/rice/lemon soup.

On sale for $10 and if more kiwi sav blancs were in this price range, I'd drink them more often. I was just bashing NZ sav blanc to my dad the other day, complaining about the all too often obnoxiousness of the acidity, and a rather homogenized overall experience form one bottle to the next. I’m happy to say no such pitfalls here, as one immediately tasted a fairly complex medley of tropical fruits, especially star fruit, that really provided had an uplifting and happy feeling once this was in your mouth. Yes, of course a decent amount of acidity, but that hand is proportionate and well played. Lingering notes of grassy minerals on the finish. A great pairing with the appetizer of bruschetta with fava beans, greens and blood oranges.

cait rated this one and I agree with her. not the full on acidity that you find in some SB, but good pear middle without being sweet.

fruity nose, mineral notes on the palette, good with spicy, nothing particularly distinguishing

Crispy, fruity, spicy. Very good. Drink as young as possible. But it can hold. Excellent QPR!

A nice SB! Tart grapefruit, citrus, lemon, lime, sea shells, some light herbs, and no cat pee funk. A decent food wine

I really like this wine. Easy drinking but enough complexity to make it interesting. Great food wine with all those summer salads and patio meals.

Granny Smith and Lime notes on the nose. Fresh, good weight, gooseberry on the palette.

Great for NZ Sauv Blanc, Lots of Citrus fruit and Lychee, and well balanced. I just don't really like NZ SB.
