Ruby-auburn color. Initially tight, but it opens up to show some tart cranberries and black cherries, but the fruit is beaten out by lots of green olive, charcoal pit, anise, seaweed and braised meat, a hint of alcohol. (14.5%). Fresh, tingly acid and some dusty tannins for structure. Black and red cherries, tart and crunchy, and the fruit is laced with pickle, green olive, smoked meat and beef drippings. A hint of cola and cedar as well. Fully mature and smoothed out, with lots of herbal and meaty complexity. Not the deepest or most profound 2001 CdP, but I like the silky mouthfeel and the fresh acid keeps me coming back. Probably not worth aging much longer, but I enjoyed this quite a bit, as did the friend I shared it with.

Just shy of the magical 90. Still quite well-integrated at 11+ years. As per my previous experience, I decanted although the wine did not seem to need it as much as a few years ago. Classic CDP palate. No edges. not truly "smooth" but not sharp in any way.
I have a few others and I see no reason to wait at all.

Very good CdP. Cool fruit with hints of blueberries, juniper and crowberries. Elegant mouthfeel and fine balance, with no hint of alcohol (the label says 14.5%). A fine wine that only just has hit its drinking window. ..

A bit disappointing. Some dried fruits and herbs on the nose, but it seems a bit tired when it comes to the palate and acidity. Maybe a bad bottle, but I will not wait too long with my remaing bottle.

Earthy, herbes de Provence, dark cherry notes. Wine opens up nicely and tastes more "Rhoney" than another bottle earlier. Very interesting, bottle that added a nice peppery note as time wore on. Wonderful mouthfeel.

Initially, there was an overwhelming medicinal nose, like pine sol. This did mostly blow off to expose black cherry, forest floor and asphalt. As the wine opened, it herbs de provence emerged which added more complexity. This was a puzzling wine, that did not scream CdP and seemed a bit disjointed at first. However, it really started to come together quickly in the glass so perhaps it needs more time. High marks for complexity, less for pleasure.

Decanted 2 hrs. Had this with asian marinated flank steak, roasted potatoes and salad. Great nose of earth and cherries very reminiscent of full bodied Burgundy. On the palate, big beam of cherries, spice and earth with lots of acid. Goes nicely with food. Very pretty, Burgundian style of CdP.

Upon opening, this wine was sort of bitter, but after an hour or so (not decanted), it opened up nicely. Very, very earthy (not unpleasant). I will probably decant the next one. Did not change much on day 2.

Awesome cdp nose with asian spices, bacon fat and provencal herbs. But the palate was way off. Tasted like a smoky cherry coke. Couldnt get past the coke taste.

Big creamy berry and earthy nose, medium tannins, great balance and evolution of this wine over the course of dinner. Delicious complement to the six-course meal at The Jones Bistro featuring a tenderloin with beet au jus and a cheese course.

Nice, fully mature and seems to be holding well, but don't see anything to wait for. It's a basic level CdP but well made.

Solid like the others I have had. No big decant, although I let it breathe and it did open a bit through the bottle. Drink up.

Somewhat simple and "modern" styled -- fruit, glycerin, not a lot of balance from acid or structure. Worked okay with the rib roast, but not my style.

Great fruit aroma, first sip (undecanted) was very unpleasant. Got better with air, but didn't lose bitter finish.

Earthy Berries on the nose. Smooth and Silky. Some fruit on the palate but huge Dr Pepper flavors. Really nice with Grilled Rack of Lamb.
