Stored in a basement for it's life. Aerated & decanted. Still very drinkable and actually quite enjoyable. Deep ruby in color, a bunch of sediment, and while past it's prime, it was still enjoyable with dinner. If you have one, consider enjoying it very soon.

decanted and aerated, served at about 70 degrees. I knew this wine was just past peak, so I did not expect much. I had one glass with dinner about 25 minutes after I decanted it. That first glass was less than I expected, but drinkable. Maybe closer to a rating of 70. As I often do, I left the wine overnight in the sealed decanter and hoped for the best. The next night the wine was much better, closer to a 76. The color was a deep garnet / purple. The nose was predominantly blackberries with a little bit of potting soil (earthy, but not the moist soil smell of many 'earthy' wines). It had a medium-light to medium body with good legs that formed quickly. Not complex in taste. It reminded me of the standard table wine our local Italian cucina pours.

Concord grape nose which often signals bargain wine to me. Flat on the palate with a somewhat burnt flavor. Nothing too interesting here. I mean for $7 it's not going to offend you but I'd rather save my money personally.

This bottle was the last of our 2006 Concannon PS. The previous two bottles were drunk at pre-football game tailgate parites with less than ideal tasting conditions (plastic glasses and 95+ degree temperatures). Although we did pre-decant and chill the wine below ambient air temperature, getting everything right was difficult. This bottle, however, was enjoyed at home under much better conditions. It was decanted with the Vinturi, but had very little air time beyond that. Previous bottles suggested this was a Pop and Pour wine. Color: Deep garnet to purple. Nose: Fruity, like Welsh's grape juice. Body: medium Taste: Fruity, but short of being jammy. Not much tannic structure or complexity. Finish: Short, but no off-notes. Overall: At $7.00, this is a pleasant enough wine with fair QPR. It wasn't a "wowee", though. We'll probably sample future vintages for quality when on sale.

Impressive bottle, unfortunately contents do not measure up. Rich bit one domensional nose, continued onto palate. Claimed to retail at $16 - if that is a genuine price then we are in fantasyland.. Reasonable value for the $8 I paid

Decanted with the Vinturi and allowed to breathe 15 minutes. Color: Nice medium purple. Nose: Good dark fruit on the nose initially. Fades rather quickly. Body: Upper end of medium. Taste: Modest fruit on entry, dry, not sweet. Modest structure. No glaring off-notes, but nothing stands out either. Decent balance but not much complexity. Finish: Short Overall: Fair QPR given the $7.00 price point. Will buy occasional bottle when on sale.

Was about to write a tasting note but noticed the previous note by boldntannic nailed this one. We drank this at about 60 degrees, ran through the vinturi and had several glasses over the next couple of hours. Nose was pretty muted and there wasn't much depth on the palate. If you're looking for a good PS, try the McManis which is similarly priced.

[Durif] Lamb Chops: Dry, blueberry color and flavor with smooth, mild tannins and clean finish. It is ready now. Not the most complex, but a very good supper wine.

Not bad...popped and poured with steaks. The cherry syrup and pepper flavors dominate after a while in the glass. Let it hang out for a bit so the big alcohol blows off a bit, and eat a grilled hunk of porterhouse, and it shows itself quite well!

Dark tight color. Nose has loads of blueberries, cherry and some green/vegetable components. The taste is packed with blueberries. I also get some sort of tree branch taste?! I doesn't open up that much to me and I feel that it's a bit closed. The wine is a bit light and doesn't coat my mouth as much as I had hoped but the fruit isn't fake or "over the top". Allover a nice wine that smells and tastes a serious dose of blueberries. OK qpr.

Dinner in Livermore so might as well sample the local juice. On the wine list at the local d-town Indian place. Served in a crappy stem but not sure this would matter anyway. Easy going, lacks the push and depth I like in petite but one cannot drink Carlisle or Switchback PS every day right? Blackberry, light chocolate, hint of char, medium weight.

[Durif] I like this wine but it's a bit bitter with sweet and sour pot roast. A dark, deeply flavored fruity red wine that's smooth to drink but dry in the finish. A supper wine for sure, but can also step up.

Very solid wine with great QPR. Not overly complex, but nice nose of dark fruits (blue and black berries). Full bodied on the palate with some peppery spice and a decent finish.

Nice go-to dinner wine. Had it with a homemade artisan pizza. It is fruit-forward with a most pleasant black jellybean dominating the nose and blending nicely with the cherry and plum flavors. It works well with food. I wouldn't suggest this as a sipper at all though. Defintite is one to watch for in the supermarket sales, where it is often found. Excelllent QPR if it can be had around the $8 or so price point.

Very fruit-forward wine with a highly strong cherry flavor. Aromas of cherry, licorice and blackberry. Too much cherry fruit on the palate for my family and me. A reasonable price but would probably not purchase again due to the overwhelmingly strong cherry flavor.

Much flatter and unbalanced than previous bottles. Lot of fruit. Overall not worth buying again. I might need to find another go-to low priced Petite Sirah.

Very enjoyable for a fruit forward oaky wine. Not quite as good as the 2005, but it may just be a bit young. It did get much better after an hour or so.

Beautiful dark cherry on the nose with just a hint of earth. Not too dry. A touch of oak. Great cherry flavor. Lots of fruit on the mid-palate with a spicy finish. Paired very nicely with Beef Bourguignon.
