ChTR vuosikokous 13.10.2012 (Ravintola Viinille ja Ravintola Pohja): Tasted double blind, had been in the glass for some time. A garnet red with an aged look to it. The nose suggests that this wine is ready now and at its peak, very nice smells of violets and cherries. The palate is quite acidic with cranberry/lingonberry, good tannins, very tasty. I was pleased that I narrowed this down to Tuscany and Sangiovese!

Medium-dark purple, slightly dull. On the nose an impression of maturity, even age: decaying fruit as well as more attractive ripe fruit. That sounds unattractive, but overstates the case: the nose was complex - and interesting rather than seductive. On the palate it's more pleasurable: still a bit tired, but with lots going on. Not a great year in Tuscany, and not a great Cepparello, but one I'm glad to have had the chance to try. I wouldn't rush out to buy it, unless you follow I&O's wines.

Enjoyed this wine last nigtht at a terrific and refined Italian restuarnt in London UK. Nose and taste started out suggesting this was a little old, past its peak but on a gentle decline. I had it decanted and after about an hour it really opened up beautifully and the flavours and bouquet completely rejuvenated itself. It is a subtle wine now but very refined with pure flavours and soft tannins.

Moderately dark red with a fair amount of bricking. Nose and pallet dusty and old world style. A little strawberry or raspberry on the nose. A hint of it on the pallet. From a lesser vintage, probably as good as it's going to get. Drinking more like it has 12 or 15 years of age as opposed to 7.

enjoyed with Sunday night "pasta with red sauce" after a day of cleaning out the garage. Enjoyable wine that is so easy to drink when eating Italian food.

Enjoyed with sausage and pepper sandwiches and burgers. Nice integration, light fruit, obviously a different wine from a difficult vintage but Paolo did a great job to produce a very nice easy drinker.

This was our last bottle. Drinking so nicely now. Paolo did a great job with this wine. If you see it buy it and pop. He lowered the price as the 02s got such a bad wrap. This isn't one to save. It's for drinking and enjoying now. Hearty enough for a red sauce pasta dinner, but smooth and elegant.

Clear, light, strawberry-colored. Fresh bouquet with fruit and floral overtones. Fruity (strawberry) attack, with lots of tannin (some bitterness) on the back end. A bit too young at the moment, but it will be interesting to see how this develops. If the fruits and tannins resolve well, this could become a very good wine. Probably not up to a steak, but should be good with lamb, veal, pasta.

Definitely at the tail end of its life but still nice acidity and balance but a very short finish.

Showing a slight sign of age, but mild, smooth and still a mid length finish. Quite an elegant 100% sangiovese after 10 years.

Medium dark color with bricking around rim.Somewhat aeromatically challenged. Seemed closed or tight. Nice round and rich mouth feel, but still tight.

Ok, but aging Italian Red, but paired very well with a Pagliacci pizza.

Smell of berries. Light colour. Showing age. Nice balance to it. Nice fruit coming through but certainly tiring.
