Fruit forward, balanced wine with a sweetish (very dry, but not brut, to use champaign terminology) grape flavor. There's a natural yeast aroma which is very appealing. (I'm wondering whether it could be used to cultivate yeast for panettone.)

Medium bodied, not very dry, and earthy, this wine goes very well with equally moderate (not too heavy or spicy, and not too light) Italian fare. As I have found with many Pulianesca wines made with some percentage of Negro Maro grapes, it gets better and better as it sits. I'm keeping an opened bottle in the fridge for deglazing because it makes lovely sauces.

Such an excellent wine for the price. Tight upon opening. Fruit is a little buried until it opens up. Better second day. Great soil/gravel flavor in balance with structure and alcohol.

Everything was well integrated. Rich, smooth, mellow and velvety deep but short finish Needs a bit of breathing space, more so the second day than the first.
Was still a great pairing with garlicky, beefy, cheesy lasagna as well as w cheese & sausage, as well as just an aperitif.
I echo the sad sentiments that this was my last bottle.

We absolutely love this wine. Very balanced, with mellowed fruit and enough acidity to round out the tastes. A good overall sipping wine. It held its own with a rich red sauce, but the Zinfandel we had was still a slightly better pairing for the meal.

We had this bottle with pasta, turkey meatballs and a salad of spinach and water-cress. The whole thing didn't work. I found the bottle to be harsh but it might have just been fighting against the bitterness of the salad.

Dark ruby color. Nose: ripe plum and blackcurrant, mocha, anise, and a little vanilla-laced charred oak. Medium/full body on the palate: recapitulation of the plum and blackcurrant with mocha, graphite, anise, and some black olive. Solid acidity. Moderate dusty tannins. Lingering sweet graphite, peppercorn, and dry earth on the moderate/long finish. Really delicious stuff. Excellent balance with good structure. Drinks much classier than I had anticipated. Awesome value.

I bought this at the recommendation of my wine retailer - told him wanted to try a Primitivo (or blend thereof). When I got home, the CT reviews gave me some trepidation - I almost returned it, but decided otherwise. I was pleasantly surprised by this wine!! Attractive dark red/purple appearance. Medium body. The nose was bright red and dark fruits and a bit of earth. The taste improved over time, offering jammy qualities with some spice and cocoa. Some acidity and tannins were noted but not bad. Finish was long and pleasurable. Though would like to try this again, I’m still put off by others’ bad experiences.

Had this at Macaroni grill. Built in an elegant easy going ready to drink style, it nonetheless brings very pleasant flavors and aromas. Very interesting blend and we really enjoyed it.

Was originally rating an 82 at opening, the aroma was great but minimal flavor on the palate, now after 2 hours in a decanter, the concentration has increased quite a bit. For an $11.00 Italian, definetly give one a try.

I bought a few bottles of this wine because I enjoyed it at a tasting. But, this is the second one I have opened at home and they have both been a dissappointment. Sharp on the pallet with no real flavor. A dead wine.

This is a young wine that comes of light heavy and rather dry. I get hints of molasses & coffee and a bit of chocolate. Good value for the buck. Will purchase more to sit.

Fantastic value in Italian reds, this blend of Negroamaro, Primitivo, and Cab had bright berry and cherry aromas and flavors. There were spicy notes of licorice and black tea in the palate, with a nice lift of acidity. Highly recommended, and drinking really well right now.

An excellent value dry fruit forward flavorful red wine with hints of earth and long finish. The wine is from Italy's Puglia region (the "heel" of the "boot") ! It's a blend of 40% Negroamaro, 30% Primitivo, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. It paired well with seasoned smoked pork loin and spanish rice I had. SIGHT: deep purple, medium viscosity, stained tears. AROMAS & FLAVORS: Fruit - fresh black cherry, blackberry, raspberry; Non-fruit - violet, cinnamon, cloves, oregano, licorice, black coffee or tea, dark bittersweet chocolate (85% cacao). Earth - wet soil, wet slate. Wood - little/none. ACID: lively, crisp. TANNINS: present but not overpowering (tannins are from fruit not wood). Will pair well with Barbeque (BBQ), smoked or grilled meats or zesty red pasta sauces. I found this at my local grocery store (Safeway in San Ramon, CA) for under $10 on sale.
